Yet another finger injury thread
October 28, 2010, 06:45:23 pm
Ive currently victim to a finger injury and was hoping for a bit of help with a diagnosis.
I injured my ring finger in the large pocket at the start of rattle and hump, and felt a twinge go down my arm. Now it is slightly achey to form a fist it also hurts when applying pressure through the finger open handed but not in crimp or 1/2 crimp. my initial diagnosis would be something to do with a flexor?

Instant UKB internet diagnosis: flexor unit strain. Dave macleod has some advice on his site.

I'd say total rest until you don't notice pain doing day-to-day stuff ( a week it so) then punter around for a few weeks. Avoid pockets for a month or so, don't do shit that makes it sore.

Try and avoid 'testing' it too much.

on a more serious note,

Practice extending fingers against a soft, mildly resistant textile. Putting a hand into the pocket of a pair of jeans will work.

Then extend the arm forward with a light load held between the fingers - equivalent to 5 or 6 pounds worth of change.

Try to carry 2 large glasses, each containing around 568 ml of beer or lager.

Hand one glass to me and then slowly perform 10 reps of lifting the remaining glass to your mouth - each time trying to reduce the volume of liquid in the glass by drinking from it.

Repeat until I can't talk and you feel better

Is there a finders fee? Have you considered a pyramid sales structure?

:)
