Britain's premier bouldering competition will take place over the weekend of 15-16 January 2011. This year the BMC British Bouldering Championships will be held at the Outdoor Show in London at the ExCeL centre!
The BBCs in 2011 will be held in the huge arena of the ExCeL centre in London, at the biggest outdoor event of the year - the 2011 Outdoor Show. Previously held at the NEC Birmingham, the Outdoor Show moves to London next year, and will be held in conjuction with the London Bike Show and the Boat Show.

There are four competitor categories – junior male and junior female (born 1995-1999), and senior male and senior female (born 1994 or earlier).

The reigning national champions are:
Senior Male: Nigel Callendar
Senior Female: Leah Crane
Junior Male: Edd Mowbray
Junior Female: Charlotte Garden

The championships will also form part of the selection process for the 2010 Senior British Bouldering Team. Competitors will be selected on their performance at the BBCs as well as past and potential performance.

There is no qualification process to gain entry into the British Bouldering Championships, and the competition is open to anyone. The problems range from V2 to V8 in the junior categories, and V3 to V10 in the seniors. It is expected that the juniors will compete on the Saturday (tbc), with the Seniors climbing on the Sunday (tbc). We look forward to welcoming new and established competitors.

If you don’t want to compete, but want to come along to spectate and cheer on the climbers, the event will be run as part of the Outdoor Show, where one ticket will get you into the Outdoor Show, the London Bike Show and the Boat Show! See the Outdoor Show website for details of tickets and the venue.

The BBC's problems will be set with Entre-Prises climbing holds. Entre-Prises are now the official supplier of bolt-on holds to the BMC.

The days that the competitors will compete on at the 2011 British Bouldering Championships at the Outdorr Show - ExCel, London have been switched; with Seniors climbing on the Saturday and the Juniors competing on the Sunday.
This is due to route setting and organisational issues, to allow the competition to run smoother and more efficiently.

There is no qualification process to gain entry into the British Bouldering Championships, and the competition is open to anyone. The problems range from V2 to V8 in the junior categories, and V3 to V10 in the seniors.

The Seniors will be climbing on the Saturday (15th) and the Juniors will climb on the Sunday (16th).

If anyone is thinking of competing last minute its probably worth ringing up and checking that there any places left rather than turning up on the day and risk finding you are not allowed to compete....
