BMC Youth Climbing Series
September 20, 2010, 05:09:02 pm
http://www.thebmc.co.uk/News.aspx?id=2158

The dates for next year's BMC Youth Climbing Series have been announced.
In 2011, the regional rounds and British final will be held on the following dates:

Regional Rounds
Round 1 - 22nd January
Round 2 - 5th February
Round 3 - 5th March

British Final
British Final - 25 June

The three rounds are run regionally, so all young climbers wanting to take part should not have to travel too far. To be eligible for the British Final it is necessary to take part in at least two regional rounds.

The 2010 series was very popular, with over 600 young people taking part, and a great Final at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena near Ratho.

Now that the dates have been announced venues will be organised next.

Once the venues have been organised, application forms will then be made available on the BMC website.

Tom had his first go on Consenting on a top rope yesterday. Second time up he did all the moves. He was 10 at Christmas. If they stay keen I reckon Ben will out boulder me consistently on steep stuff in under 2 years. I reckon both will be better on indoor routes by then as well. As for the Oak - not even Malc warms up on that.

Final round was on Saturday. Most of the results and finalists to be found here.

Finals to take place 25th June at Wolf Mountain, Wolverhampton which is holding a climbing festival over the weekend.

http://www.midlandsclimbingfestival.co.uk/

Wolf Mountain is honoured to be holding the 2011 BMC Youth Climbing Series Finals and we want to celebrate the fact that we have been given the opportunity to hold the finals in the Midlands by putting on a climbing festival.

The first Midlands Climbing Festival has been put together by a group of like minded climbers and parents of climbers not just from Wolf Mountain but other climbing centres in the Midlands.

We hope you choose to stay in Wolverhampton and to help you we have put some information on this website that may be of help. Wolf Mountain sits in a green belt area and has plenty of space which has allowed us to create a camping site for the weekend. All teams, competitors, families and supporters are very welcome to camp. We have full catering, shower and toilet facilities on site. We understand that competitors may not wish to camp on the Friday night but we intend to make sure it is a quiet night. However you are welcome to camp on the Saturday night and enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere.

We hope to introduce some ideas that should allow the competition day to finish reasonably early so everyone can relax in the evening at the centre. Yes there will be prizes for all the placed competitors but we will also have a large number of spot prizes. The idea is that all the people who stay to watch the prize giving will be in with a chance to win a great spot prize!

We realise that comp days can be long and sometimes tedious for some spectators such as siblings and we hope therefore visitors will enjoy some of the activities we will have available on the day. Check out the activity page on the website under event guide!
