I tried to access the forum a few times but it seemed to be down.

I had no problems, although have on occasions had strange issues with DNS not working for http://ukbouldering.com/board/ but fine with http://www.ukbouldering.com/board/ (unfortunately many of the links within the forum use the former prefix so whilst I could view the main forum page use the later going into sub-forums tried to use the former which was tempremental).

I was wondering about that when someone linked to it the other day, how do you check the veracity of what it claims?  It tells you its down for everyone, you walk away and accept it.  Its tells you its down just for you and not others, you can start looking at your settings, but things like IP address and DNS will be working (to a greater or lesser extent) because you're connected to the net and using a URL (as opposed to an IP address) to get to downforeveryoneorjustme.com itself.

To be honest, I am putting faith in this based purely upon who recommended it to me. Twas a relative who is a very keen IT type chap, much like yourself  :P

Since my OP I haven't been able to access UKB from home at all. The only way is through a proxy (anonymouse). I've tried rebooting my rebooting my router but still no joy. Using www in front still gives the same result. I have no software firewall either so it can't be that.

I'm a bit lost on this one. Any ideas anyone?

- browser cache?
- you could try adding an entry to your hosts file to bypass any local dns issues:
209.135.140.14  ukbouldering.com
- not sure other than that - does your router have a firewall blacklist? any FF addons like blocksite/adblock/etc that could have been accidentally misconfigured?
