Pre font shoulder injury
March 28, 2010, 10:05:21 am
I woke up yesterday with a slight dull ache in my right shoulder which today has got considerably worse. It's now very painful to lie on or move and there is a popping sound when I lift it high. :'(

Doing the research it appears I might have SIS and as it's a week before font it's gutting. I know exactly when it's happened, on a right hand dynamic slap I was repeatedly doing on friday. Without wanting to sound a bit ukc has anyone else suffered from this? What's the best thing to do this week to give me the best chance of being able to climb next week.  :please:

Having just spoken to my sister in law who is a doctor she thinks it's much more likely to be a rotator cuff injury, so ha anyone had this before?

By SIS I assume you mean shoulder impingement syndrome?  This is a vague term which I dislike- it covers lots of impingement symptoms and has no place in SCIENCE.

Cuff strain is pretty common and the usual treatment is quite appropriate.  Or is this "Wilton Shoulder"?

most likely to be rotator cuff related, aka "Wilton shoulder". Fucking hurts though. It was on your stella based eliminate in the graveyard... Think I'll lay off it this week, ice and painkillers and hope for the best.

Sound advice Jim, cheers lad

once you get back, recommend you do some theraband exercises. really helped me. And take a look at how you train and get into some stabilising exercises.

Pain is still excruciating, was thinking of seeing a physio, can anyone reccomend someone in Manchester/Bolton that has an interest in climbing injuries?

It looks like it's going to rain in Font anyway so you will be getting plenty of rest there!
