Splashdown, Widdop

start: Left hand arete, right hand undercut, left foot smear

move right foot next to hand on a little break.

I then go for the break below the top, but always fall off.

Is this the right, no scratch that, easiest way to do it?

The break isn't the best, so is it better to just jump for the
top instead with you right hand?  Or is there something cunning
like a toe hook, heel hook, (power and technique?) involved?

Asking for Beta on a V3!

V4 innit? Anyway, difficulty is all relative so don't worry 'bout asking.

I can't remember clearly how I did it but not sure if there's any  trickery, just a case of getting your timing right. Pretty sure I went for the hold below the top rather than the top itself.

Excellent problem.

I'll try it again over christmas if we get a good day as Widdop is only about 10 mins from my house, maybe it'll be easier in the cold (or at least after all the pulling in boulderUK!).

Might be time for a re-name now there's no puddle, although grass-down isn't quite as good!

the secret to this (splash down) is where you put your right foot. Don't put it in the obvious break but on a small edge below the break ( the break is too high up and puts you off balance when you go for the top)
Can't remember if I went for the top or not (don't think so tho) cos your nice and balanced on you new right foot hold and can suss it out without falling off.

N.B   all this may be wrong (my memory's not that good) apart from the bit about the right foot which I remember distinctley - don't put it in the obvious break, put it lower :D
hope you get it, its a reet good problem

oh and it is V4 and looking at my post on yorshiregrit I went for the break with my right hand not the top (and then the top after obviously)

not sure of the exact beta, but remember doing it as a dyno I think, so I guess that must've just been going straight for the top.

don't worry dobbin, don't think i know anyone who hasn't struggled on strawberries at some point!

Strawberries is a weird problem - about 2 years ago I could breeze it, and last time I tried I got nowhere - feet positioning is critical on the first moves.
