Are these any good Serpico? Do you own one? I've seen a Manfrotto one and was wondering how this compares to that? I'm in the market for a camcorder stabiliser and this looks really impressive, have watched the demo videos and they look very effective. I had been toying with the idea of making my own, but not sure if I can be arsed..

Preferred the look of the Time Lapse dolly rigs I've seen on vimeo. Slight difference in cost though. I take it you've built that adam?

We had something similar at college which worked pretty well, see also the 'fig rig' which can be replicated pretty easily in wood for 'fuck all'. I've also seen one built from plumbing bits for $14 http://steadycam.org/

On the Gadget show the other day (I wish I didnt have re-occuring nightmares featuring the short bald wanker) they had sompe make your own pop video challenge etc... anyway - said Short bald twat had a neat thing for holding a vidcamera that looked a bit like those old flash mounts for slr's - a metal bracket that screws into the tripod hole and a hand grip on either end. The logic was that because your hands were further apart when holding the camera there was much less shake/more steady etc.. seemd to work really well and was dead simple.
I'm sure someone much more technically minded than me could describe that better!

This (top one) was what he was using, again from Hague just not quite as good as their 'floating' steadicam setup.

Which is exactly how the 'FigRig' works, nothing clever, just a 'steering wheel' but hence why it's easy to make you own. Real ones are super pricey. £200!
