[Rabies]

Toying with the idea of buying a camcorder, mainly for climbing.  How much do people recommend spending to get a decent HD camcorder?  Any particular issues to think about?

'pends how much control you want and how good a picture you want

for point and shoot (option of having lots of control too) with great quality picture

new Canon HV30/40 for £600 to £900
or
used HV20/30 for £450 to £550

Whatever you buy, check that you can get a wide angle lens (0.5 xto 0.7x sort of thing) for it. It gets hard to film stuff if you have to stand too far away

this is another useful thread with a description of my budget HD purchase. but like slack-line said, you get what you pay for.
