The Gibson...

The one I just made is Tanqueray 10 and Noilly Prat, but I think Tanqueray Export would've been better.

I wonder if anyone's ever tried making one with a pickled egg...?

Patum Peperium

First pot for about 5 years. On a piece of buttered toast to start with, cream crackers next. Makes me wish I'd had either a couple of ice cold cold lagers or a moderate amount of weed.

For those who have never had it - think fishy, peppery marmite in a small tub that looks like it should be filled with over priced anti-wrinkle cream.

I think this one came off the shelf at Waitrose. Should be available on line - doesn't weigh much.

If you can't get it in Scotland for legal or cultural reasons then I'll send you some hidden in the belly of a homing sea trout.

Marmite on crumpets.  The heat from the freshly toasted crumpets melts the marmite and it then soaks through all the air-bubbles.  Yummy!

I got the urge to make classic dry Martinis on Fri (Tanqueray Export and Noilly Prat) - delicious but god they get you pissed. How businessmen used to get through a standard 'Three Martini' business lunch god only knows. Apparently, Robert 'Father of the Atom Bomb' Oppenheimer made a mean Martini.

In the meantime, Morrisons' Fairtrade Dark Chocolate covered Brazil Nuts currently constitute about a third of my diet.

One of my faves, butter and marmite on hot crumpet, with a slice of cold mature cheddar on the top.

Marmite and cheese, truly a masterful combo.

Even works on a jacket spud, now it comes in a squeezy bottle (ever tried spreading marmite on potato?)

They have a two Martini limit at Dukes. I wish I could enforce the same thing at home.
