the manly one arm lock off
September 16, 2009, 05:52:14 pm
I've just started doing one arm dead hangs during fingerboard sessions and i've read (perhaps from moon, maybe beastmaker) that doing so is more beneficial/safe if done whilst remaining as face on to the board as possible...

i've been doing that but i can only seem to lock my arm at 45 degrees rather than 90 in this position, I'm not sure if this has highlighted a weakness of mine, or that its not possible to lock at 90 in this position, anyone shed any light?

It's perfectly possible to do an open 90 degree lock.  Staying straight on relates better to a face climbing lock off, just ask Malc about it.

I hear that guy has a whole lot of lock! so how do i go about training it, just a bigger hold to start with? or systems on a training board that force a 90deg lock?

Or use a pulley system to make you a bit lighter, until you can do it?
