Twitter's site crashed on Thursday at about 3pm BST due to a "denial of service" attack – thousands of remote-controlled virus-infected PCs trying to contact the site.Though the site came back up after an hour, the company said it was "continuing to defend against and recover from this attack".
Awesome. Hope it sinks.
Twitter rocks. Facebook sux. Bebo is for kids 'n paedos.
Can someone please explain to me the buzz surrounding twitter? I thought the hype was just the BBC/mass media hedging its bets on future technologies, making twitter appear far more popular than it actually is.

I thought the hype was just the BBC/mass media hedging its bets on future technologies, making twitter appear far more popular than it actually is.I didn't "get" Twitter at first but now I love it and find it really useful. It's a great easy way to catch up with what people are doing and to post your own drivel but it's also an incredibly useful resource for finding information. I use the twitter search greasemonky script so that when I do a google search I also get the twitter results at the top of the search page. Often the twitter results are as/more useful than the google results. It's also great for breaking news and for updates from sites/products/people that your interested in but don't want to have to go out to their blog/page all the time. I guess it's like an interactive RSS feed combined with microblogging. I don't think the media need to make it appear more popular than it really is. It's huge.
