So this is where the DFB thread went.

The illustrations in Bernhard Thum's Frankenjura guidebook are a pretty impressive DFB compendium. That in addition to being the book that uses beermugs instead of stars for quality ratings, and has breweries marked on the crag map, *and* has the previous edition on sale at half price because there's a new edition out.

I think I might buy one.

Slightly lower framing would have helped too. The horizon looks like you tried to frame it out but didn't.

I've been staring at this (top image) on the cover of the Petzl catalogue since I got it the other day.


Awesome.

Can't find a bigger version apart from the pdf download of the catalogue, but there's a less cool shot from the same route here.

I've climbed on some other crags in the area (albeit at considerably lower grades) and come across the vertical runnels a few times and they make for some very funky climbing - a bit like tufa climbing but more subtle. Wonder if it's due to limestone being at a high altitiude / high precipitation area? Not some across it quite as pronounced anywhere outside the haute savoie.
