Up for me (although Jacobs down on its own is very good!) makes the stuff afterwards feel okish, whereas other way you seem to be constantly heading upwards with no fun bits....

 :agree:

Or you could go up it, turn round then go down it and then back up - just a suggestion.

I tend to carry up Jacobs because I hate the climb from Coldwell Clough to the top of Jacobs, and you get a good descent off Hollins Cross, and you get the long descent to Roych Clough with the short climb out of it from the stream.

However I did ride it the other way round the other day and at least it is all rideable if a bit tedious (I've never managed all the way up Jacobs on my bike). And if you come down Jacobs you also get to come down Rushup Gully which is good.

Up, the challenge to do it in a oner will keep you going the rest of your life and the descent the other side is fast, fast, fast.  Plus i think the round back to rushup and down into edale is nicer that way too.

Well that can't be right; a consensus on an internet forum? Whatever next? :o

Fatdoc will dispute the consensus - when he manages to stop working.  ;D

push up jacobs at dawn, billowing clouds... Go up left for 10 more minutes to kinder. Suck in the fresh air.... Pads on, fullfacer... Go for it down... Fuckin mad if you take it fast.

Pedal back to campsite in edale, family just getting up. Stove on.. Black coffee then bacon sarnies..

Now, that's riding.

I've always gone down as the loop is cycleable all the way, well with the odd dab or three unless your Nick Craig and can cycle up the ladder

Its got to be up.  Don't get me wrong, down is great fun but the last 100m spoils it with all the loose boulders.
