We generously handed handed on the giant-killing torch to Morecambe.

The game was okay great following from bardford but very much played as a friendly.

Bradford rested 6 players from their saturday match and we tried a new formation.
Slightly disappointing crowd (11k).
All in all a good first match of the season to watch

Hey guys. As a good time filler before Ashes round 2 kicks off... I have created the UKB fantasy league for the coming season:

Code: 167257-46611

It seems to me, to be a somewhat uninspiring list of strikers this year other than rvp! It'll be interesting to see what the imported signings are like too

Almost time, sign up now, gotta be in it to win it come second to Crouch

I might have missed a few crucial game weeks last year Crouch but your ass is mine. And your league place.

Shazam...I'm in!

For the record I was top for the first two weeks but then went off the boil after not doing my weekend subs. Last season was a bit shite IMO, there was a month where if you didn't have Rooney and Van Persie up front you were suddenly c.100 points behind everyone else!

League position is no excuse or justification tomtom.

Yes its embarrassing.. I have been amongst folk doing this particular celebration and abstained.

League position was just trying to make myself feel better after feeling the wrath of Jose's return... Wonder if the Magpies are going to be relegation fodder this year - not looking great for them. Still, they have JFK in charge.. kind of..

Moose - that's just scarred my eyes. Some of them look ready for Come Dancing... pity the poor kids they spawned.

What makes it all the funnier for me is that it's so out of character.  US footballers are typically pretty level headed compared to their UK counterparts.  They tend to find fame later in life, having come through the college system, and having spent most of their careers playing in arduous conditions (the MLS season goes through the summer... playing in the heat of places like LA and Texas, lots of long flights and prolonged away tours) and earning comparatively little.  I suspect the players involved were were mortified by the results.

What I'd like to know, is what were the newspaper's editors thinking?! If pop-culture is any guide, the average US male thinks "soccer" is a game for children and girls: real men play gridiron.  Odd way to try to change that perception - commissioning a photo-shoot that makes the players look like extras from Zoolander!

Footballers.... they're not like us normal folk: Part 1:

Emmanuel Frimpong of Arsenal drives an SUV that projects a picture of him throttling Samir Nasri
