My source* suggest they may also go for Nolan.

*talksport.

Wouldn't surprise me if Harry tries to gazump the Carroll deal.

Fuck me, go out for a day with the kids and come back to find the world (well, Dalglish) gone mad.

Interesting that's he inured and how he got crocked:

Probably the TWO fosters that tipped him over the edge

hahaha brilliant find, more info here-

As well as FOUR Jagerbombs, 6ft 4in Carroll downed TWO pints of Fosters and around SIX bottles of Peroni.

Witnesses saw him slump down with his head in his hands after the Jagerbombs and one Peroni. Then all of a sudden he perked up, alert, “like a meerkat”

I'd prefer to keep hold of Torres and get Suarez and not spend 35 million on Carroll! Has the world gone mad  :-\

35 million for Carrol is not mad enough apparently - Newcastle have rejected the offer - rumours of a third bid in the wings though.

Also sounds like a done deal with Luis Suarez, Charlie Adam.

Just read a very good point.

When the media looks at transfers they generally only concentrate on the fee but this can often be less than 50% of the total cost to the club over the period of the player's contract.

As Carroll is "only" on about £30k a week at the moment, Liverpool can more than double his wages and still be paying less (inc the £35m fee) over say 4 years then someone on £130k a week with a £25m pricetag (£49m as opposed to £52m, I realise this is simplified but the point makes sense).

It's a gamble of course but if Carroll avoids serious injury and does really well then after 4 years (provided they've signed him up on a longer contract) he could be worth as much or even more to another club and then it starts looking like a sound investment.

People say "well so and so only cost £x" but it's not as simple as that.

Interesting, good stuff

They have to do something though, they need a proven PL goalscorer.   Suarez could be interesting but also could need time to get used to the PL, don't think South Americans have the best record of settling in quickly do they?  Carrol seems the logical, if expensive, option.   He's getting a lot of support from fellow pros saying he could be world class, etc...

Similar to what our assistant manager did:

Quote
However, his West Ham career was short-lived, as he tore his hamstring 27 minutes into his debut against Millwall[1]  Taricco then offered to have his contract with the club cancelled which the club accepted, marking Taricco's retirement from professional football. At the time Alan Pardew commented that it was one of the most honest things he's ever known a footballer to do.

that's brilliant, though in hindsight 7.5 mill a year probably made him never need money ever again but still its the gesture.  Who was it who said they would join a club for a few thousand a week just to play premiership again? was it tuncay?

I'm hoping we can have a repeat of our performance at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. And hopefully Bent will score a hat trick  ;)

Bastards

 ;D

 >:( >:( >:( >:( Its taken me a day to calm down! (it was an exciting - though head-tennisly poor quaility game at times)

We could have easily been 4 or 5 nil up at half time... except for that bacon loving rudolf nosed bastard good goalkeeper Schmeichal.. during the game he made 3 outstanding saves, one of which I would call world class... one of those diving back arched clawing the ball out of the goal type ones.. right in front of us. Simply superb. Git.

Still, I saw more goals in one match than I think I've seen in 3 months  ;D

Haven't read this article as I don't give a shit what a fool has to say about a twat but this line tickled me:

Quote
ESPN analyst Kevin Keegan is one of English football's most respected figures

Wednesday sack Irvine.
Well he always struck me as a dour, miserable, defensively minded, glass half empty manager who couldn't get a good squad to play well. I'm sure he's been well paid off and I don't think anyone will really mind him going.
Looks like Megson is the favourite to replace him -  which suits me fine (although Poyet has been mentioned :)  He's got a good track record, ex Owls player and would fit the bill I reckon
