Ha ha. Didn't realise Beardsley was in charge at the moment. For some reason I find that hilarious.

My guess is that pardew wanted a long contract so when he gets the sack he gets more money.

On 5live they were saying Pards has been getting texts from other managers all day along the lines of  'are you mad?' :)

He's not mad though is he. What's the worst that can happen? He fucks up like every other Newcastle manager, gets sacked and walks away with a massive sack full of cash.

I love it when managers say "I could never have forgiven myself if I hadn't had a go at such a big job" when they actually mean "I know I'm out of my depth and I'll probably balls it up BUT I'M RICH!! RICH BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS!!!!".

And the sooner he fucks up the sooner he gets to enjoy the cash, must be an odd situation to be in.

Interesting piece about him http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/dec/09/alan-pardew-newcastle-united-manager]here [/url], his downfall is all the 2006 West Ham right back's fault for making that shit clearance straight to Gerrard in the cup final.  Bit more composure and Pardew would be England manager.

Pardew... a known name, but whats he ever done on grit eh?

More seriously - what has he done? He seems to be highly regarded but I dont see any cupboards full of silverware following him around.... My Charlton friends dont speak especially highly of him - he was being touted as a #hcafc manager for a while and there was not alot of +ve coment about him...

I follow football but can't really see why he's been appointed!

5.5 years though.,.. You're absolutely on the money there Jasper (literally!)

Apparently Pardew's been good mates with Llambias and Ashley for a while (same Casino in London).

Bet toon fans love knowing their future's being gambled with.

Yup - I think probably everyone agrees that Ashley is a knob - but despite all the cock ups/manager changes/bad decisions he has caused, he has stuck a hell of alot of his own (or his companies) money into the club...

I wonder how he made so much money in the first place when he seems so stupid. Every decision he makes seems like the knee jerk reaction of an imbecile.

I fucking love football me.
First match with Mandaric in charge and we win 6 2  ;D
First time we've scored six since we beat Leeds by the same number in 1995
We could so easily have scored 10, hit the bar, hit the post ,put one over from a yard.
And. It was good to watch  :o
I honestly can't remember when it was that good. When we were 5 2 up my 11 year old asked me if this is what it used to be like when I was young  :)
Fucking great day

Good win for Huddersfield on saturday against Brighton. Was a good game as well.
Not sure if it was a pen to be honest, but justice is done with a poor attempt. Brighton had the better chances but I felt we had more of the play.
A draw would of been a fair result in my opinion, so a win is a nice bonus. The only disappointment for me was bloody Joe Garner our striker throwing himself on the floor any chance he got. The home crowd gave him abuse for it. Hopefully he will fuck off back to Forest in January when his loan is due to end.

Nice to see two teams trying to play football in Div 3.

I can't decide whether I'm happy or not. He didn't inspire pretty football but did get results.  :devangel:

What is going on?

First Wilkins by Abramovich, then Hughton by that fat t**t up in Geordie Land, now it seems even Indian billionaires think they know best!

Sickening to see so many clubs run by utter morons.

Yep. Wasn't sure at first but he has been sacked.

Let's see if Real, Barca, Inter or AC come running for his services.

That's just rumours though, he'll never come to Blackburn.

He won't.

Never.

Will he?

Please tell me it's all just rumours! Where's a praying emoticon when you need one!

everybody said the same when Dalglish was linked with them in the 90s.
