The Skunks have sacked Hughton. Bunch of muppets. Hopefully they will get relegated again  :)

I jokingly said to the Mrs after watching them yesterday afternoon 'That's Hughton sacked tomorrow'...  Who do they think they are going to tempt to Tyneside?  Jose Mourinho??  ::)

I went to City v Bolton at the weekend.  Cracking game, great atmosphere at COMS and some  :jaw: play from the Silva, Tevez, Balotelli trio.  It's starting to gel now and some poor club is going to get a right proper twatting in the next few weeks.

Jasper are you coming across to Huddersfield for the match on Saturday?

No.  >:(

Astonishingly bad decision. Unsurprisingly it's not going down too well with the Bar Code faithful. "Mike Ashley" is trending on Twitter and it makes for quite amusing reading!

Maybe Phil Brown  ;D

What a pillock Ashley is. Even with a bad string of results I didnt think Newcastle were going to go down this season. I dont think Houghton would win them the league - but he's plenty good enough for now... I could have understood this at the end of the season. But Ashley is a prize plonker. Unless you're a Mackem, in which case he must be some sort of top notch double agent  ;D

They say they want someone with more experience so the shortlist is probably:

Iain Dowie
Phil Brown
Steve McClaren
and of course.......Keegan  ;D

I said just the same to my mate on the way to watch a dull 1-1 draw with Cambridge a few years back.  Chose not to go to the next match and we tonked Blackpool 7-1.  Didn't know whether to  or  :'(.

how long til the end of the end of the season - 23 weeks?

I guess the logic of getting a new guy in now is that he gets to start his rebuilding in the January window, the alternative is Houghton blowing several £million of a kitty that could have been used to tempt a better manager or not being given any budget, realising the writing's on the wall and quitting when it's too late for the club to do business.  Remarkably they might have got it right for once.

Aye the league is hotting up a bit. I'm a bit gutted to slide so many places in the last few weeks but my team have been shit. Can't believe Fernando didn't even play today!  Always good to shit on the villa though!

Good man.

Can't believe I stripped Berbatov of the captaincy last week then he went and scored five, I should be sacked really

Not aimed at anyone here but I'm still amazed at Liverpool fans picking on Hogson... what a whining bunch of idiots.. STILL moaning about Woy.. hes a good manager - he's getting you some great results with a 2nd tier team that he's inherited 3 months ago... FFS...

Even the press - its not 'great victory for Woy' instead its 'woefull old Houlier'....

Poor bloke.

:agree: They don't get it do they. Just cos it's Liverpool they think they should be winning every game. Woy's doing a great job given the damage Hicks / Gillette did. It will take time and patience for them to become a top side again and at the moment they're way off but that's not down to him.

They're closing the gap

Quote from: @optajoe
10 - Liverpool are only 10 points adrift of first place in the PL; after 16 games last season they were 13 behind. Progress.

I can see us maybe finishing in a similar position to last season which is realistically where we are in terms of quality of squad (6th to 8th). Totally agree with fellow fans getting on his case being deluded/out of order. Just hope the new owners don't go all Mike Ashley on Woy and give him till at least the end of the season to see how things work out. A couple of astute signings and no more Poulsen's would fit the bill.

It was good to see the team playing with a bit more freedom when Gerrard and Torres are missing and taking on some responsibility for initiating attacks instead of just passing the ball to Stevie G and waiting for things to happen!

Meireles looks to be settling in well now and Lucas looks a lot better when he gets the opportunity to get forward more. It'd be nice to see Ngog given more starts alongside Torres when he's back. I can see Babel blowing hot and cold for the rest of the season if he doesn't go in Jan.
