England out in the first round (again!).

BTW - can anyone explain why it was an "England" bid when its the United Kingdom that is the country?  If two separate countries (Spain & Portugal) can make a joint bid, why can't one country (UK) with multiple teams (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) make a joint bid?

Beacuse the bid is from the Englaish FA not from the UK FA

Russia wins, they must have paid the bigger bribe

Is there such a thing as the "UK Football Association"?  A cursory google all seems to return http://www.thefa.com/, and I see there is http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/, http://www.faw.org.uk/ and http://www.irishfa.com/

Russia and Qatar, the two biggest money spinners for FIFA.  Perhaps not bribes just their opportunity to make cash.

With Qatar having daytime temperatures of 40 degrees in August they obviously don't care about the quality of the football.

Or they'll play early/late just as boulderers avoid the mid-day heat, maybe?

I'd like to see the press get stuck into FIFA over the next couple of years now to unearth a much shit as they can. This current bidding bollocks in redonkulous. Corrupt individuals holding onto as much power as poss. The IOC eventually sorted itself out when journo's published the corruption.

 :goodidea: and  :agree:

With the downside being that if the British press push too much the FIFA Executive Board will decide that the home nation FA's must merge and we end up with a British Team, although we might win something then as we would be able to play Gareth Bale in a half decent team

Part of me is really rather glad, but I am sure the economy will miss out on a few £bn which is a bit of a bugger.

Well apparently the Dutch reckoned it would cost money to host it once you'd taken into account all of the demands in the FIFA contract

Couldn't agree more. Get Jack Warner strung up first, I want to see him 'spit on reporters', despicable response of a senior official representing the biggest global sports organisation on the planet......

It seems oil is the new favoured currency at FIFA HQ.

They'll play at whatever time generates the most money from sponsorship, tv audiences, etc.  Remember the 94 final being played at walking pace due to a midday Californian kick off, which coincidentaly was early evening in Europe  :greed: :greed: :greed: :-\.  it was a complete bore and was the first final to be decided on pens, the end result doesn't matter as long as the cash register rings.

Such a disappointment. I listened to the England presentation whilst driving this AM and thought it was top notch - nearly bought a tear to the eye... Eddy whatshisface from ManCity was superb - balls of steel to start that presentation so nervelessly...

I guess Putin had the inside line so didnt bother to turn up rather than some sort of snub.

Seems we went out in round 1 with 2 or 3 votes and Russia had already won without having to go down to the final two! So they really did have it in the bag!

The sad thing is its unlikely to come to Europe again until 2030. I'll be an old giffer then, and have to throw my colostomy bag at the telly in anger - when we play shit and get out in the first round...

Whether or not you believe FIFA is corrupt and rife with cronie-ism, the lack of transparency in the whole process is - for such a large event with such financial implications - ridiculous.

In many ways Russia is a good destination for it - though I will believe the visa waiver things when I see it (it cost me c.£130 to go there for 5 days in visa shizzle this year) - and its f*cking expensive...

Qatar though! WTF...? I thought it was something I hacked up when I have a chesty cough!
