Rooney out for 2 to 4 weeks.

Gives him a nice rest and enough games to get back up to speed for England.  ;D

Me too. I don't get people who profess to hating The Scum but then support them in Europe cos "they're an English side". It's tantamount to switching teams.

Looking forward to the game tonight even though Cesc looks doubtful. Should be a cracker.

Theo for England?? - boy done good....

this just about sums it up...

BBC 5 live's Graham Taylor: "It's one of the most one-sided 2-2s many of us will have seen, but I do blame Barcelona for taking their foot off the pedal at 2-0. When I see that, I think they deserved the result. Arsenal go to the Nou Camp with some hope, not a lot, but some."

great spirit in the Arsenal team

Shows where we are though - truely world class mid field but up front and at the back....
No disrespect to Song who tried his best but he's a midfielder.
We have three centre halves all past their best and just Vermalen who's up to it
up front Bendnar is a good sub but that's about it and having Van Persie is great but it seems he is injured more than he is fit
a couple of defenders and atleast one striker over the summer please Professor... Might not have liked Barndoor but we never really replaced him, Eduardo has never been the same which is a shame; Cambell for Toure doesn't seem a good swap either..
who?? well Chabouk did look the business last night but I fear he'll turn out to be a touch light weight for the Premiership
and defending - there's always talk of Upson but his perfomances for England leave a lot to be desired so can he really make it at Champiuons league type level
As for Almunia - excellent first half but he seems to have caught the Lehman trait of being brilliant then doing daft things but in reality there's not many better - none who would be for sale anyways... and that's always the problem

The Gooners were f*cking lucky... it could have been 5-0 after 30 mins... Glad they got something from the game, but it was a soft penalty & harsh on Puyol (Dowie/Hunt love child)

I thought the first 20 minutes had some of the best football I've ever seen.
The way Barca run off the ball is great to watch. They create so many options from almost everywhere on the pitch.
I can't see anyone beating them TBH

I agree it was a soft penalty as well

It was a penalty but I don't agree with the rule that it requires an automatic sending off.  If it had been outside the box in the Premier League Puyol might not even have been booked.

Barca were stunnig for most of the game. Aresenal were lucky.  Can't wait for the second leg.

Can anyone recommend any good boozers in Font to watch it in.  By good I mean quality of footie watching, obviously the beer is going to be crap.

Amazing game. The stat in the first half when Arsenal had only had 30% possession for the first 30 minutes was surprising as I didn't think they'd had that much. Fair play to them though for sticking at it and fair play to Wenger for listening to me shouting at the tv and bringing Theo on.

Unfortunately with Fabregas, Arshavin and Gallas all fucked I think that's the end of the Gunners chances (I'd love them to prove me wrong).

Proper fucked my FF team up too. I've had to play my wild card and make loads of changes (was going to bring Arshavin in for Cesc but then saw the extent of his injury).

From the brilliant @optajoe:

Quote
Arsenal held just 35.4% of possession against Barcelona last night, compared to their CL average of 60.4% before the game.

In the absence of anyone recommending a footie watching pub (Aussie bar perhaps?) we might have to do our own research  :beer2:

At a first glance.

You may be wondering why I've posted this story in the football thread.

Rather than a general one.

But if you read on, you can find a football-related item in there…

Can't believe no one here has helped.  Bastards the lot of 'em.

Anyway it's on Canal+ which is froggie pay per view so it'll have to be a bar, or can you take that clever TV box of yours Graeme?

Dissapointing too that the annual trip to Dame Jouanne restaurant for my birthday will be cancelled too now that it's shut.
