Ringinglow road still basically impassable between Lady Cannings and the Popular End. Mix of deep soft snow and sheet ice.

Cycled over it today, saw a Range Rover being pulled out by a tractor - he hadn't left the road but had got stuck all the same.

Lots of rock looked dry though.

Rowtor was mint today.

A friend went to Stanage. They drove up from Hathersage and parked at popular and walked in. Storm, crescent arete and ace ok but pretty much too cold to climb by all accounts. Tomorrow looks colder too.

Rivelin had plenty of dry stuff yesterday, and completely out the wind. Seepage down The Brush Off wall, but Sparks looked good. I didn't head over to Master Kush area, so not sure about that end of the crag.

Worth noting the chicken lady at Rowtor is very upset with the numbers visiting recently, things may be coming to a head. I will update the relevant thread so any discussion on there please.

They are fine.

I went to Stanage today. I parked at the Popular end and walked in but the road down is getting close to fine, just the odd bit of black ice. I didn't wander about much but help the young, back in YMCA, the ace were all fine. Some guys arrived as I left and were going to brush the snow off the top of deliverance (the face was fine). I presume careless and crescent arete are fine.

Froggatt today was completely clear of snow other than on the ground, and much of the other Eastern edges look to be the same. The sun and cold mean that there are far fewer wet streaks than normal for January, and generally excellent conditions.

Brisk winds on the west facing edges today. I went for a quick look at secret garden but the left hand sloper of beachball was wet and everything left was fucked from snowmelt.

Very. Most rock at burbage was dry this afternoon though. Ringinglow rd not amazing, main problem is when driving in the wheel ruts anything with less than high clearance will be scraping on the snow/ice.

Yeah, I regretted it having started. You can't really get out of the ruts once you're in them either. Was that you at WSS Dave?

Roads are better the other side, clear up to Popular end and ploughed past Overstones. All the rock looked mint, met two very happy climbers on their way down.

Curbar was good today. Eaglestone had a nice moat around it, a few problems do able but not really worth it.

I've been to rivelin on Tuesday and Froggatt this morning. Both were quite dry, snow on tops, but the grit has been really hot when sheltered from wind, Froggatt felt very sweaty this morning, great for a bit of bumbling. Might be colder tomorrow if there's no sun, looks like the wind will start catching the edges on Sunday.

I will add, the car park at rivelin was a total ice rink. Main roads are clear bar rRinginlow.

Gardoms boulders are pretty fine and stay shaded so will be good tomorow (that's where I'm going...)

Nah just went out with the camera. Heard some guy do WSS from other side of the valley.

I think I knocked something off the bottom of my car, the thing which is like an underneath extension of the front bumper, I'm off out now to see if it will clip back on. Also on the way back I got stuck trying to cross between ruts and had to dig my way out with a push from a passing walker.

Anyone been to the Roaches today? Mate was thinking of coming up to try hard arete/tetris but won't bother if it's snowy/wet. Cheers.

Went for a walk today....

Lawrencefield - mostly soaked with run off but the bay underneath the Surprise View corner was quite dry.
Milstone - Key Hole Cave was bone dry to the top (i.e. traverse do-able), rest of the crag pretty soaked with run-off
Over Owler Tor - Mostly dry, couple of people playing on things
Mother Cap - Didn't visit business side.
Higgar Tor - Looked pretty dry from a distance, but didn't get up close.
Burbage West - Only West Side looked dry
Burbage North - 20 foot crack area, Banana Finger, Remergence and Sphinx all dry and all but the first had groups climbing on them.
Burbage South - Passed some people playing on the boulders which mostly looked dry from the path.

I went today. Tetris block was dry; conditions weren't ideal though. It was cold but it seemed very humid, holds were turning black when used, maybe it's just my batter fingers!

Thanks for the info. I'm not keen to try it in less than mint conditions to be fair, so good to know the score.
