Just seen this on the Edale MRT facebook page:

Roads in the Peak are seriously affected by snow drifts this morning. Around the Owler Bar/Fox House area, main roads are only passable in a 4x4 with high ground clearance.

Edit: Facebook picture of the road above the Grouse:

I drove from sheff to stockport last night/this morning about 4am.
Owler bar wasn't too bad, very blowey, big drift at hairpin at frogatt so had to smash through that.
Turned out going over the moors was the easy bit
The A623 middleton dale was horrendeous from tideswell onwards. Full white out blizzards, passed loads of snow ploughs/JCB's (overtook one) trying to keep it clear but was really bad till got to the wanted inn at sparrow pit.
For some reason it was 6 degree's in peak forest as well.
stay at home

Having failed to get past Sparrowpit due to snow drifts, I ended up at New Mills Torrs today.  If anyone else is equally desperate, you may be interested to know that everything was dry (although Grim Reaper looked a bit dirty and, er, grim).

I also failed to get much past peak forest in a 4x4 before turning back and ending up at new mills as well.

Hathersage to Sheffield via Fox House is open, but down to one lane in places, as is the road between Grindleford and Calver. Well it's actually wide enough for two vehicles, but there are only really one set of tracks.

You should've gone to Hobby Moor then.

Good luck, I'll be in touch.

Made it out to Stanage yesterday. Had to walk from the car parking ~300m East of Burbage Bridge.

Some pretty big drifts well over the fenceposts. Must've helped push out half-a-dozen 4x4s En-route.

Huge drifts built up along the edges - we managed to slide from the very top of the crag down the gully to the left of Archangel :)

Started cleaning up Big Air - by stacking a few pads you could actually reach the pocket from the "ground" but unfortunately it was full off ice...

Traipsed back and went to the works after the 40mph winds and viscous spindrift started to take their toll.

Likely some great snowballing opportunities if it clears up: shame I got to work this week. Make sure you take a lot of shovels :)

Froggatt was a bit mixed today. Lots of drifts, lots of melting/ dripping snow.
We built a sort of platform under Narcissus but sacked it off because snow on the ledge melting was dripping down it, might be ok for tomorrow. Oedipus was wet, snow on high jug. Mint 400 has a good platform and is dry. We had 3 medium pads and mint 400 felt fine apart from the jump off from the break.
Business lunch dry, sole power could have just been dry but some drips running down it. anything slabby was soaked.
Hope Burbage is in good enough nick!

Just been out to Burbage, parked by the cattlegrid and walked. Road mostly fine but a couple of big drifts, one with in situ abandoned Porsche Cayenne which has already been vandlised.

Drifting snow is ongoing. I reckon the drifts are at least as big as 2010 and still building. Big cornices! Given the forecast I think the next couple of weeks could be amazing...

Worth noting that the east-facing crags like Burbage west are completely bare and will be climbable as soon as you can get up there.

Much snow under western eyes to civilise the landing a bit?

The aforementioned platform at froggatt. Not great but we got bored of shoveling and its good enough.

How was 3 blind mice looking Johnny? Seen the photo on Outsides facebook and the rock looks wet.
Anyone going up there tomorrow for a shovel and climb hopefully?

None whatsoever that I could see from across the valley.

3 blind mice already had a big platform dug, I added to it a bit and built another under Ai No. The rock was damp, but there's not much snow on the rock so it should be sound given a few hours sun.

Nice to see you today, sorry I couldn't join you, had the family in the car.
We drove round to Froggatt and the road was closed below the Grouse and there was a tractor digging out the snow drift (where the blue Astra still is), might be passable now.

Puck will need digging out at the mo, but I dare say things will settle down by the weekend.

The bend below the Grouse - blue Astra still there around 1630/1700 - just behind the tractor.
Might be open now though.

Went out yesterday and flattened the landing under 3 Blind Mice.

Do we need to merge/separate these two threads?
