I was indeed on FG, but I did get there a bit later on. I think I got parked up about 10.30. Went to join a few others.

Secret Garden was disappointing cold-glassy yesterday afternoon

dry and sheltered though

a tiny change in temp or humidity could have made all the difference

I'm almost completely convinced that 'glassy' conditions are down to skin, not rock.

Gardoms was good - but the wind was biting even though it wasn't that strong.. (Had a freezing session at BBG W on wed Dolly - couldn't face it again!) then wandered accross to the far end of Baslow (probs under the monument) they were ok ish (some seepage but climb able) and nicely sheltered..

Maybe - though BBG W felt really odd on Wednesday - glassy as lagers put it.. Some things were sticking fine but others not..

I think the same. The colder it is the longer it takes your skin to warm up. I think humidity might be a factor as well. Sub-zero means little/no humidity.

I was trying Soft on the G.... f*ck its hard! I can get off the ground guppying the arete and then lurch a bit, but nothing else ;) Almost feels like I'm too tall for it (wedging knees under elbows etc..).. Everything looked fine, except SOTG and 8Ball were chalked/tickmarked to death (I brushed a load off). Didnt look at any of the Roofs.. but everything I saw was bone dry so suspect they are fine..

Yes, then hopping my LF up onto the left face.
Conditions wise the ground is frozen solid up there - puddles frozen etc.. so I would have thought it fine on Sunday unless it warms up a load.. (or dumps a load of snow..)

Eh? No it doesn't. it's frequently been 90+% humidity forecast with sub-zero temeperatures.

Thing is I warmed up at home which felt fine and warmups went ok too but anything relying on open-hand, slopey, draggy friction you could forget.  Also, my feet kept skidding off holds and while that happens when they're really cold I did warm them and my shoes (did type "boots", must stop calling them that, haven't worn boots since the 90s) up again but it kept happening.  It was glassy.

I think this came up on Peak 7B thread - I think Soft on the G is a poor problem; attractive line but it climbs rubbish.

Yup. I've never got them and I presume the rock hasn't been magically different for me.

I'd say the opposite: looks meh, climbs good. Never managed to get bothered enough to try either of the low starts properly mind.

Light snow all afternoon at Secret Garden but only a heavier shower at around 4:30-5PM stuck- I hung around was able to climb Beach Ball all afternoon but I imagine the problems with higher, less-thwackable holds will be out of condition now.

I had a look at Mother Cap on the way back to the car- snow-free but absolutely baltic wind. Mother's Pet was the same but without the wind.

Was good at Rowtor and the Stride today. Then there was a bit of a blizzard at 4ish, snow settling too so might not be the best tomorrow.
Went up to Curbar on the way home and there wasn't any snow.

Rivelin was pretty mint throughout the day (except the quarry, that was pretty gopping)

Just driven over the Snake - rain/clag from Glossop to ladybower - drizzle and wet roads/damp walls from there westward. Not an ideal day I would suggest :/

Thinking of heading up to Burbage this afternoon. Anyone know what it's like up there? I'm guessing lots of dampness/clag?

Clag doesn't necessarily mean damp, but I suspect it might today given yesterday's rain. There's a breeze too, it'll be pretty raw up there.
