Lens cleaning
May 12, 2009, 01:16:00 pm

My blower brush that was about 15 years old has expired.

What do you use/recommend for lens cleaning? Is there some fancy new-fangled thing that is teh awesome or is it still an old blower brush and a lens cloth?

i use a lenspen word, or a cloth. also have a compressed air thingy at home which i use occasionally. if you buy another blower buy one like the rocket blower - separate hole for sucking air in. lenspen also make a sensor cleaning pen which is good.

I have a double-valved blower...

..and cloths.

Also have one of these for cleaning the CCD, but the brush is used on the lenses...

Not that I actually use these as if you flick through my pictures you'll see most have some sort of mark on the lens/CCD too lazy and careless to keep everything clean (although in reality I do actually try).

Thanks for the recs guys. Hoping that the new cam's built in sensor cleaning will keep the manual sensor cleans to a minimum.

Are tissues/fluid a bad idea?

i've got a 40D and reckon the built in thing is very good. i seem to get very few sensor spots.

i don't use them. lenspen does the trick, even with smudgy stuff.
