Simple really - I'm thinking of getting one or other of these. Has anyone climbed in both and if so can they tell what the differences are? i.e. in practice not just according to manufacturer's bumph Cheers!

Here's my two cents...

I went to Crag X with the same quandry (replacing some sadly knackered pinks) and the first question was 'are you going to climb 8a-ish on limestone?'

Apparently, if the answer is yes I should be looking at the whites, greens if not. Though I'm sure it's not quite as clear cut as that.

I tried on both pairs, and found the whites useful but pretty stiff - I can see how they're be good on the lime. But, as a grit (E1-ish) plodder I pumped for the greens.

One thing to mention on the greens is that apparently they give quite a lot (in fact my partner has complained his are too loose now), and so I went for the smallest pair I could fit into (UK 5, and I was a 6.5 in pinks) and they're fine now.

Try em on word, they both fit differently. The greens fit me very well as I have a high arch so I went with them

The greens have an appaling heel, I don't know what the whites heel is like but it can't possibly be any worse.

So if you like your heel hooks to feel bomber then not the greens, if your not arsed about that kinda shnizzle then pick the colour that matches your eyes (or use some other criteria)...

I don't know what the whites heel is like but it can't possibly be any worse.

The heel on the Whites is the best of any climbing shoes that I've ever worn... better than the Dragons (for me).

I had a couple of pairs of Greens until the Whites were launched but after just one problem I knew that the Whites were miles better. The heel is brilliant. Despite being stiff, I still find that they climb well on grit and I now wear them for pretty much everything except for really steep stuff where Dragons come in handy.

I have both but only worn the Whites at Malham and they performed better but even there I actually enjoy climbing in the Greens more as they are bendier and have more feel. If just for Grit I expect the Greens are a better choice.

I am lucky enough to own a pair of both, and I agree with the above. The Greens are a bit softer and slightly wider, better for grit. The Whites are stiffer and better for routes/lime, and fit more like the old Pinks did. I think the heel is gash on both.

worn my greens about 6 times for routes and bouldering, got them similar size to my old pinks nice and tight (although definately a better fit), and already they have stretched and feel less precise, especially on the limestone. They're comfy mind and I'm inclined to agree with Zods beard and Simon Lee with regard to grit use.

i found both green and white to fit completely differently.
I bought some greens to replace my pinks but ended up getting whites.
All about colour......
The greens were nothing like the pinks
I reckon the whites do feel almost like the pinks, the heel is different but i dont really think its any better.
Made your mind up now?

If you have any plans for Malham, the whites are THE shoes. Like people have said, greens probably end up being more suited to grit after a good amount of use, so maybe a good all round boot. Lime when new, then grit when older. Though same could be said for the whites though. Its a toughie.

from reading this a question
what's the advantage over of either over pinks??
I'm currently looking around for a good edging shoe to go in the sack with my miuras..
any other suggestions aside from the rainbow of shoes from 5:10?
