Some recent fishing photos...

First my bag of trout from Grassholme Reservoir in Teesdale the other week. All taken on float fished worm and tasted delicious!

The reservoir also held a good head of these buggers...

Then I finally got some proper fishing done after a lean month time wise. Can't beat a nice bag of beautiful roach on maggot, caster and hemp on the pole...

And the biggest of the bunch, nearly a pound of finest scouse roach...

I've tried fishing for these in the past, unsuccessfully in the past. Maybe my technique needs refining!

Amazing fish and apparently, one of the hardest fish to hook and land given their incredible set of gnashers and proclivity for acrobatic fighting style. In short, probably not down to your technique Chris :)

Yeah, not a nibble from one in 4 days in Botswana, in spite of steel traces and all sorts of fancy spinners. All I landed was a tidy 3 spot bream (my brother the dedicate fisherman caught nowt), and had to make do with photographing hippos, crocs, birdlife and dragonflies.

He's moved on to better fishing grounds now though, and converted my nephew

This is probably a bit frowned upon, anyway if any of you Anglers are keen for a bit of quality PROPER fishing in the Yorkshire Dales, check out the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust {Charity} Auction. Lots of good fishing oppurtunities and you could end up with a bit of a bargin! http://www.yorkshiredalesriverstrust.com/auction

All money goes towards protecting and enhancing the rivers and Catchment of the Swale, Ure, Nidd and Wharfe..

I will just wait for the punter points..... anyway worth a shot!

Had a fly casting lesson last week at the very excellent Gweryd Lakes in North Wales and managed to learn how to cast (finally!), catch three trout, a perch and this...

...on a white lure fly thing!!! The instructor had never seen a bream caught on the fly before :)

Nice tench Fatneck

I caught about 60 tench over the weekend at Golden Valley campsite - mostly about 4 inches long (some smaller). Proper fish-a-chuck stuff in a tiny pond. Nothing over a pound, but a 1lb tench on the whip was enough excitement for me.

Got a trip planned with my youngest (10). His older brother is away with the scouts for 10 days so when asked what he wants to do instead he has come up with a plan of a weeks fishing to try and catch as many species of fish in as many venues as possible.

We are going in the camper and starting on the south coast somewhere around Lulworth for a bit of sea fishing and a boat trip then work our way back up north over 6-7 days probably finishing by casting a fly at Kilnsey (which is a great little fishery if your ever near it).

So i am looking for recommendations for spots we can go to. I want to include lots of types of fishing as it wouldnt be much of a challenge to go to a commercial every day. So looking for a good running water barbel and chub spot with camping maybe on wye/severn as it seams a bit of a con to catch these in a lake. Also a good natural lake for tench/ carp ideally that you can camp next to and fish through the night, and a good venue for a decent perch and small pike.

Also any good commercials that you can camp at, always good to have a bit of a bag up session every few days.

Just to complicate things more i will chuck in my boots and mat so i can grab a few hours bouldering where possible hence Lulworth and Kilnsey, so if any of the above are near decent crags even better.

This sounds like an awesome idea!

Haven't a huge amount of experience of fisheries down south but there's an app called iFindFishing that lists all fisheries and tackle shops relative to location that may be of use?

Sorry if it's too late, but when my grandparents used to live in Dorset when we were nippers we did a couple of fishing trips in Poole Harbour, there are a few that run out of there. Used to catch a fair bit, mostly small stuff from us, but was some nice sea bass landed. Used to love it. I suspect there are dozens to choose from though.

Great bag of tench! It's enough to make me feel nolstalgic for the old country.

I've found a good spot in Mosman bay to fly fish for mullet. Just a little short of time at the moment.

I'm a member of Ravensfield Ponds near Rotherham. It's a beautiful little wooded valley with 6 lovely lakes. The biggest tench in that picture is probably around the 3lb mark. Great fun on light tackle.

Here's a couple of fish I've caught over the last few weeks. Pretty chuffed with them to be honest.

9lb River Ribble Barbel. A new PB by willatkinson85, on Flickr

A 9lb Barbel from a night session on the Ribble. The best fish of a 3 fish catch and my new PB :)

21lb 2oz Mirror from my club water. A long time coming. by willatkinson85, on Flickr

An immaculate 21lb 2oz Mirror Carp taken from the Specimen Lake at Ravensfield. There aren't many 20's in the lake, I've been trying to catch one from there for the last 2 years! Get in! :)

Recent trip to Grassholme resulted in three fine trout on the fly...

Sorry about the size, am linking from my blog and don't seem to be able to do anything about it! Speaking of blog, more info about the trip there... http://fatneckwrites.blogspot.com/

the battle took at least 20 mins

check out the size of the landing net that we had with us
