The bouldering was totally dry yesterday. The crag looked dry too.

Lee is in font thankfully. Though I don't think he climbs on rock in the uk anymore. Certainly not at wimberry - too many painful memories.

I reckon the new guide should only have photos of Slap Happy. Shot only on a D3. With additional lighting. It'll be a new paradigm.

I'm visiting Stockport for the day tomorrow and was hoping to get some bouldering in. Never been to Wimberry but heard good things, is there any chance that there will be any non-snowy boulders and will approach be ok? Or should I be thinking about going elsewhere? Thanks.

Its north facing, and Manchester has a sprinkling of snow (5-10 cm a few days ago) but not got above freezing for a few days.. I suspect it'll be OK - but snow on top and maybe in some breaks - take a big brush. Not sure about access - as the car park and small road up to it is steepish in places... but it is a well used dogging spot car park...

BBC is saying the A635 is open so should be able to get there.
Make sure you pay in the car park as you get a ticket and you will have to pay the fine (issued by oldham council). Think its about £1 (60p for 3 hours).

I might be being a tad optimistic here but I don't know the crag well so, what are chances of it being dry this weekend?  Possible or will it still be a slimy green mess even though the forecast is good?
Thanks muchly.

what routes do you want to get on? id imagine the cracks will be slimey in the back, but the wall/slabs of charm/pinball wizard may well be fine.

Wimberry has been greener than I have seen it this year (from the boulders not done the walk in as I thought it would be a waste of time).
The weather has put off a lot of people off this year so the summer traffic and the locals on cleaning missions has been less than previous years.

Its been drizzling all week until today in hudds. It was raining this morning, clear skys and suns out at the min.

You may be able to climb there but abbing and cleaning first might be recommended.

Also it will be completely brassic

Does the Norwegian met office come recommended then?

always been most accurate for me when I have used it with met or bbc for uk long stuff.
In font the hour by hour stuff was exact. Neil at maisonbleau recommended it to me.

Was at Wimberry on Saturday, conditions were actually not too bad,  Miles slab and Think Tank were both very green and damp, but Fish/Sloping Top/Sugarloaf all ok.

But then it rained all day yesterday...

No. The Met Office forecasts will be more accurate for the UK. The met Office provides the BBC with their forecasts and so they are identical, if presented in a different way. It's become a bit of a bug bear of mine, but these UK forecasts produced by random countries aren't more accurate. The Unified Model used by the Met Office is generally considered to give the best results (with the possible exception of the model used by the ECMWF for medium range forecasts) and the spatial resolution of the model over the UK will be finer than that of other 'random' countries forecasts.

What's view on metcheck Mr Morefat? I've always assumed they'd rely on metoffice data so it's just a rehash. Any knowledge about that? Thanks.

its been dry all week in Manchester, only takes an evening of clear weather for it to be dry the next day. Forecast is dry sunday as well so should be ace, nice and cold as well so Dark Matter should be in prime condition if you can call it that.

Was pretty nice at wimberry yesterday. A little green (even by wimberry standards) in some places.

Sugar loaf looked okay maybe a little green in places.
Sloping top boulder looked pretty green and probably needs a decent brush.
The tank was dry.
The elephant bum face was great clean dry
Project Dyno was chalked and tick marked (not sure who by though) I meant to clean it off before I left but I forgot.
Think tank got a couple of ascents but was pretty dirty.
Fish arete was chalked. The top out was a little dirty but was brushed so should be okay.
One group was on wimsome it looked really green. I think it could do with a proper clean.
