Cheshire sandstone aficionado and winter Hangar devotee Harold got bitten by an adder on Anglesey last weekend whilst clearing brambles from below some dodgy sports routes at Benllech... #legend

Some 'shrooms in Font this week. Couldn't believe the variety and abundance of them...
All filmed in the wood behind Roche aux Sabots / Cul de Chien on a damp Tuesday morning.
The 'Wolf's Milk' is the weirdest, actually not a fungus but a form of slime mould (nice!)

Only Harold ...

Ha! I know! Yeah he was fine and climbing at the Hangar a few days later. Apparently, there are two types of bite, dry and venomous and Harold received the former. He thought he'd just got a particularly bad bramble scratch but upon his return home, it swelled up a fair bit and he had clear puncture wounds. Unusual I'd have thought though...

I love that phrase.

Coincidentally, saw enormous skein of geese last weekend, easily a few hundred. Resident twitcher at work reckoned barnacle, based on local grapevine reports, I took some terrible pics.

Mentioned elsewhere but worth repeating. I know Peregrines are fairly commonplace but this one was obviously showing off.

Whilst at the Tetris boulder near dusk a few of us were sat enjoying the fading light. The air was suddenly rent by the sound of something ripping through the air very fast, and a moment later a falcon absolutely barrelled over the top of the boulder. Didn't spot whether it got what it was after. Crazy just how fast it was going and how closely it seemed to buzz the top of the boulder (glad I wasn't topping out). Awesome scenes.

Yep. Bet you've got some sweet glass and time on your hands for those shots. Really really good.

Cheers, it's great shooting brightly coloured birds abroad!

Canon 7d, 400mm 5.6 and a big memory card. And a delete button!

Underwater shots were with an old S90 in underwater housing (to state the obvious...).

I was totally outgunned though wondering around the hotel with my camera when I saw a guy with a 5d III and a 500mm f4, on a carbon gimbal head tripod! The lens case was the whole of his wife's hand luggage apparently.

Great shots - cropped at all?

Been hankering for the 400mm f/5.6 to go with my 7D for a while now, but just haven't got out to shoot much so can't really justify it.

Not quite up to the standard of TLRs above, but quite pleased with this one.

Yep, heavy crops of the birds, not so much on the others. Still look fine on a big monitor though. It's a great lens, much better than the 100-400 that I had before. I was still very envious of the 500mm though, but £8k is a bit much for a hobby....

It was at the Pura Suranadi on Lombok, Indonesia. We took a scooter there from Kuta to look at the temple, but it turned out to be some religious ceremony so we weren't allowed in. Taking photos of monkeys rescued it for me.

kestrel by rickginns, on Flickr

Kestrel hunting in the fields near Wilton 4 - caught this morning shortly after sunrise.
There were 2 birds, both darting and playing in the wind before they got down to some serious hunting. Baltic, but worth it.
