Orcas off the Lleyn on Sunday. Not me, but the local birders and wildlife enthusiasts had a great view from Bardsey.

For me, loads of surprising birdlife along the canal in Zone 2, London. Grebes, Kingfishers, Cormorant alongside the usual Coot, Moorhen, Swan and Geese..  Watched a whole family of Canada Swans with eight goslings paddling in a proud line on the way back from work this evening.

Apparently minkes have been spotted off Collieston (sadly not by me).

I had 2 amazing deer encounters while out with dogs this week.

First was a young one lying up in long grass, waiting for mum to return. Had quick look then backed off.

Second was watching a sizeable adult swim across a 100m+ strong tidal estuary and land not 10m from where we were sat. It had a shake, then bounced off along the river edge.

Need to get me one of those digital camera gadgets.

I've just watched a bear steal the bird feeder from my back garden - makes a change from the squirrels I guess...

Was it Barney or BooBoo?

Never found this thread before. Interesting to hear whats about.

Beautiful waxwing pics Sam T.

Seen about 20-30 red deer along from White Edge / Big moor.  On the left coming back into Sheffield on A621 just after Curbar cross roads / Gardoms parking .
Seen them a few times at dusk, I wouldn't fancy meeting one on the road along there.

pod of orcas hanging around off Peterhead for the last week. Should you be in the unusual situation of being up there, worth a look.

I saw a pod of them off brimms ness years ago. Cool but a little scary as i was sat in the water 400m away surrounded by seals at the time.

One hour later we then encountered an even bigger sea dweller as a nuclear sub surfaced in a similar spot.

Some mates were climbing at Neist on Skye over the weekend and spotted some orcas too.

I've surfed at Muizenburg in SA with dolphins at the back of the lineup and southern right whales behind them. Quite scary hoping one won't surface where you are. And you have to keep convincing yourself the fins are all friendly.

I can remember wondering what all the boats were doing 1/2 mile off shore when surfing Muizenberg, only to find out that's where you went cage diving to see the great whites.

Also had a whale fully breach at Llandudno whilst in the water surfing with Nic Sellers. (the cape town one, very different to the whales Doylo sees breaching on a weekend in the welsh version)

The whales of Wales; slightly larger, slightly less pretty, and smell more fishy.

Shady photo of a baby porpoise stranded and then rescued off the beach at New Brighton a couple of days ago...

There have been a number of porpoise sighting's in the Mersey this year and not a Mersey Trout in sight :)

I saw a Dolphin playing in the sea near the Promenade in Aberystwyth this morning. I know its probably fairly common for people who live near the sea, but its the first time I've ever seen one - made my day as I stood up from the business meeting I was in and started pointing at the sea like a toddler

:) Cool - seen them playing with a Jellyfish like it was a ball from there before.. They play up for the crowds on porpoise.. (best said in a New York accent..)

Fairly confident I saw a hen harrier on Abney Moor last weekend, that sound plausible to those in the know?

Other than that a red kite being mobbed by crows on A1M south of Scotch Corner, and up on the moors last night the sound of skylarks and curlews was almost deafening. There were also three ravens wheeling around up there for ages, and tens of hares. Nice time of year to be out.
