Same as what I saw, except one we saw was a bit smaller. Kellas Cats - hybrid of Scottish Wild Cat and domestic.

Saw gannets diving out in Liverpool bay on saturday. Seriously impressive how suddenly they can descend to water level from 40 foot odd!

They're beautiful birds.

I was surfing up in Northumberland at the North End of Bamburgh beach a few years ago and the gannets were diving all around us.   Hitting the water with wings folded at great speeds really close by and then swimming underwater around our feet chasing whitebait.  Can still picture it perfectly..

Or were they Long Eared owls. Behaviour is very similar.
Saw one a number of years ago at the High neb car park, and put it down as Long Eared Owl. (it was dusk).

4 king fishers feeding from the same branch,   :bounce: nr  Water cum Jolly.

We had a Harrier in our hedge, they nest not far from here so it's plausible that they were over Stanage.

PS the way our gallant boys fly down the valley I'm suprised we haven't had a chinook or euro fighter in the back garden, ps the Lancaster from the BobMF came over at 50m on Sunday, very impressive

Saw the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane fly over Stanage End on Saturday, and clocked what looked like an Apache helicopter flying along the valley from Millstone on Tuesday night.

Hmm, this is a bit  :off:, maybe a new thread for plane spotting is required :P

Yes I saw the Apache from Hope, our last two houses have been under military flight paths so I'm quite good at plane spotting, but please no thread.

Saw that Apache (sounds amazing in a very threatening manner) over bradwell on Tuesday night (about 7:30 ish)

To get this back on topic! After a week on the Lleyn I saw;

A Hobby - hunting down country lanes. A first!
Porpoise - small pod off the coast at Porth Dinllaen.
Gannets - around a dozen dive bombing 50 yards from me. Amazing!
Barn Owl - burst noiselessly through some foliage at the side of the lane and flew away from me.
Sand Martins - apparently doing well this year.
Choughs - great birds, always a pleasure!
Sparrowhawk - at four yards! Sat on a fence post as I walked down a lane.

Given the evening cacophony we were subjected to, our cottage was surrounded by good numbers of Tawny's! We were also regularly in the company of a buzzard family. The youngster was easy to locate as he screeched for food all day and we had only to follow the noise to watch him at our leisure. Never witnessed the feeding process before, so that was nice...

Good holiday!

More Kingfisher action.  Doing my paper round this morning (I know, worlds oldest paper boy), dropped into Millhouses Park over the little bridge that comes down from Abbey Lane, rode beside the river accompanied by a Kingfisher for fully 30 yards.  What a great way to start the day!

Watched some small white birds (arctic terns) diving for fish at Balmedie beach on Sunday. Place is brimming with wildlife, hope that syrupheaded fuckwit Trump never gets his way. Was a "Trip up Trump" picnic going on, good turnout of 50 or so people.
