Broken Sesamoid
February 28, 2009, 04:05:20 pm
Hi ppl, first post! Hope everything´s fine.

I´ve stop bouldering a year and half ago ( more or less ), because I broke a sesamoid in my feet. Anyone had the same thing? Do you know something that helps with the pain of the climbing shoes, some kind of bandage or something.

Thank you

Ricardo

Aaahh. How does an 18 month old bone injury on the ?ball? of your foot affect your climbing? Its not in direct contact with rock(through) the shoe is it? How do you manage to walk generally? What exactly is the problemo? and that first pic lloks like GCW's ankle.....

its broken in half. affects but i use a gel "boot sole" ( sorry dont know the english word, its that thing between the foot and the sole os the tenis ) on my normal shoes. in climbing boots, its not the same thing lol

my question was, if someone had the same thing, the revovery time from the injury and if there is anything that you could do not to hurt so much.

ive read something like big toe imobilisation (with some kind of band aid ), but dont know if it works, have to try.

If it's still hurting after 18 months, you may well be stuck with the problem.  Have you tried deep massage?  If the worst comes to the worst, a steroid injection may help you.

Stallion, I'll deal with you later.
