you can see significant gains in certain areas from one month to another. cant just be redefined training in that area, not for that amount of gain per month.
look at 1/11/06 and 1/12/06. he looks a stone heavier at least!

I personally think it looks like hard work and good knowledge.
When i got bored of climbing and pretty interested in reading about dieting, weightlifting etc. I came across a thread on BB.com full of these kind of transformations, even more amazing; Fat B*stard to lean bruce like figures. Its pretty easy to find and is well over a 100 pages long.
It looks to me as if he's followed a cutting diet, followed by a lean bulk and then full bulk followed again by a cut. Philo going from a lean bulk to a normal bulk will easily lead to rapid size gains as you deposit a lot of fat around the muscles quickly and they 'appear' fuller. The problem with this strategy is that when you finally cut you lose a lot more of your hard earned extra beef. Too many people seem far too prepared to shout steroids when they see a good physique which I think makes a mockery of the effort people have to put in to get to this stage. Take a while to read about dieting and just how regimented you have to become to add lb after lb of muscle, its not easy.
I got pretty psyched to add some mass to my meagre frame but unfortunately I didn't get it quite right. I was eating around about (probably just below) maintenance level with a 'clean' diet for 3-4 months. I couldn't believe how much leaner I got (I'm 5ft 6 and weigh under 9 stone) and the difference I made to my shoulders and chest. Saltbeef, Dense can bear witness to that. Now if I can make changes like that in such a short time period god knows what people who stick to it for a large period of time (5 years?) can achieve.

I've definately got one or two shots but they weren't taken in a sensible comparitive manner, I'll take a look when I get home. However, I'm not so sure about sticking them up here  :-[. I can't remember if I blogged any.

Yep, cheers Paul. They are all very friendly and complimentary on the forums. Refreshing change!

You want to spend some time in the 'Misc' section, its like shootin the shit scaled up to epic proportions.

What worries me is that the guy started out with a healthy range of under garments, then apparently wore the same pants for 28 months.

Listen to Paul_; 5 years is a long time in the gym.

For those w/ issues identifying clean or dirty / prolonged or short regimes should read Muscle: Confessions of an unlikely bodybuilder by Sam Fussell, and contrast this w/ http://www.gymjones.com/

I suspect their answer would be "what have you ever done with iron?" :)

Maybe none of the others fitted him any more

Iron, as in metal? or iron in cereal and other foods?

I can give a decent answer to both of them!  ;D

Shirly, Stevie H has been doing these bulks and cuts for years. I would guess he was far from a porker, when he did his 8c+?

Big boy Dunne's the same. Just look at that photo of him in the OP (12/01/2006).
