Thats in our faculty (that has a handful of departments) - but is in similar proportion across the University... We're better off in our dept than others as we're already understaffed lean so may only be one or two. Some depts may be losing more than half...

So its happening across the whole University? Is this a student recruitment issue? Downsizing seems like a vicious circle - what student is going to pick a university that appears to be in trouble?

Liverpool launched a major voluntary redundancy scheme last year, nominally to deal with "underperformance."

We had a "size and shape" review a few years back that identified subjects that were doing and were due to do badly. They carried out the shape part of the review (mass-restructuring) but did not do any of the size part (staff cuts). Which is partly why we're at this place IMHO.

I’m off to a student induction day on Wednesday for a certain Swiss owned High school, who have their lowest intake, since establishing their campus. Not just a low EU student intake, all nationalities are significantly down.

Its mentioned - but not a huge factor. Its one of the 'headwinds' - we don't have a huge EU student recriutment base ~ so the drop off in EU students is a small total compared to domestic.

Fucking cunts, never heard of anything being stolen at a wall I’ve been to, Turnip is well known for leaving his belongings all over the place to no ill effect. Is there easy public access or would it certainly have been someone who had paid to enter?

I often have a collection of wallets, phones and expensive jackets; at the end of the day.
People leave them all over.
We’ve yet to have a theft, although a pair of expensive scarpas, that were left behind, never appeared.

I’m amazed at what gets left behind. One wallet was with us for a week, even though I called the owner 10 minutes after he left.

Had a newish Rab Goretex left once, never claimed or asked after.

Chalk bags, we keep for 12 months, then wash them and ebay, money goes to THHN. Currently 27 in the bucket.
