After reading the above terrible news I feel very lucky in comparison, to echo everyone else hoping for a full recovery.

Yesterday I came off my bike at Aston Hills. I spent 2 hours strapped to a spine board, but only came away with 4 fractured ribs, partially dislocated shoulder, cuts & whiplash. Dodged the proverbial bullet me thinks....

Mrs S was going to start having coaching sessions once a week on Monday ahead of wanting to do a bit more climbing in Font this year. She was looking forward to gaining a bit more confidence and being able to enjoy the trip more..........

She tripped over on Wednesday and broke her wrist. Getting it pinned on Thursday. We go on 2nd June.

NNFN.  :furious:

Thats harsh, hope its not too painful for her.  At least you can all still go away unlike last time.

What would Jerry do?

Hadn't thought of that. We're not having a huge amount of luck with holidays.

I don't want her to share the driving. I'm looking forward to it.  ;)

Going with my Mum and her husband who also climbs so that wont be such a problem.

With pins it could be a pretty quick recovery time even if she is as much of an OAP as you Jasper??

Also Font....there's so much easy / slabby / low bouldering there that even with a 50% wrist on one arm there must be loads to do??

That's Ok then, as long as she can still cook! :)
Washing up might be a problem though.

knowing what Mrs Sharpe is like about needing people to feel included and keeping things fair to within 0.001%... I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she bust her arm just to make me feel less of a twat

Well I didn't get the RA position which has left me a bit gutted and thrown a spanner into general future planning.

The interview went very well but at the end of the day my thesis was computationally based and the preffer ed candidate carried out a lab based project (the position is mainly lab based with computational processing).

On the one hand it feels good that it was simply experience that swung things and I was very close to getting the offer, n the other hand if there were people that would take a punt on me, they were in that room.

Kind of? There's currently nothing else in the department that's suitable.

I've got a phone interview today with a company who want to be able to quantify the quality of work they outsource (relevant to my studies), but he's not able to recruit, he can only pass my CV to those that can and I can't really figure out if its just an opportunity for them (/him) to gain some knowledge with no outlay. Even if he could, it'd likely be in Warrington.

Besides that industry beckons, but the inflexibility (with 4 year periods for professional review) doesn't currently appeal.

Clearly the job wasn't supposed to be yours, and this interview was for training purposes only.

Ask for feedback - official and unofficial... all experience - and competition for even shortlisting is intense nowadays from what I look at..
