Had my motorbike smashed and nicked, the police found it 2 miles away but now I have to pay £205 to have it returned, plus whatever else to get it repaired. Criminal. NNFN.  :furious: :furious: :furious:

I have fooked my right ankle.

I jumped off The Beaglestone onto a flat landing covered with several well stacked pads - the top one being one of those gold plated, flood and fire proof Ronin pads. I just landed funny with one foot on the edge of the pad.

This was the safest bouldering I have done for years - 3 spotters, plenty of pads. I even looked at the pads before and during my descent.

Fortunately for me, I was in the company of heroes (3 blokes I met on the internet).

I tried using a tripod and ski pole as crutches, but in the end Dolly, Tomtom and Shark's kids carried the pads and sacks while Shark carried me most of the way on his back. The others came back after dumping the kit and helped Shark move me.

Luckily for me, Minor Injuries at The Hallamshire were happy to sort me out, so I didn't have to go to A&E on a Saturday night.

The x-ray caused some confusion. It looked like there was an extra bone/object in my ankle. I suggested that here was proof of my alien abduction. Turns out that my talus must have been broken years ago. It's not just a chip of bone, it's a sizeable chunk - maybe an 8th of the original bone. It is unclear whether yesterday's sprain has moved it from where it has been quietly lurking for years. All I know is that my ankle and foot hurt a lot.

For those who might not appreciate Sharks achievement  - I weighed myself this morning at 95kg - that's without clothes, coat, shoes.

If any of you have a spare wad point that you want to give out, I suggest floating it Shark's way. Some of his motivation for carrying me was that he was curious to know whether he could do it (he may have used the word "intrigued", I'm not sure).

Thanks again lads

He refused my offer to help carrying you and asked me to go and pick up his kit instead... ;)

Hope it's easing off a bit...

It was a challenge. Tried firemans chairlift to begin with but that put a worrying unequal strain on my back. Piggy back worked best for future reference. Did feel for Lagers. Not great to rely on another and be carried like a sack of potatoes. Hope the convalescence is short and not too frustrating.

Got one of those 5am phone calls that you know isn't good news before you answer it. My friend's first words were "I hope you have insurance". So: my house in Squamish is badly flooded thanks to a burst frozen pipe and I am on a flight to Vancouver tonight to check out the damage, meet loss adjusters, etc, etc. One tiny silver lining is that I might be able to sneak a few hours up at Whistler where there appears to be plenty of snow.

 :furious:

Give me a bell if you need some help - you've got my number haven't you?

p.s. temps cooling overnight - it'll be pukin' at Whistler...

I once shared the carrying out of an injured friend of mine (well over 13 stone 'of muscle', so he claims) from Cul de Chien with a super competitive Scottish buddy. As I had first carry, I employed the piggyback method and laboured all the way up the hill through the sea of sand whilst trying to be gentle and smooth to avoid causing further trauma to my mates broken ankle. As we reached and passed the 'halfway back to the bloody car-park' point, due to the fact that I was imminently about to collapse, I finally gave in and handed over the carrying duties to Jock the Cock, who pointed out that I would have had an easier time had I removed my injured friends laden rucksack from his back before I'd picked him up.
