Apparently MTFU is not the correct attitude when it comes to training with an ever so slightly tweaky A2  :spank:

It's not all bad, as it did make a lovely snapping sound when it went, and my finger is turning a lovely shade of purple this morning :'(

GCW, is 3g/day of Amoxicillin an exceptionally high dose?

Most websites say 1500mg max

IIRC I got put on 1g a day by Bangor hospital when I gashed my toe at Craig Doris (on a stake at the top of the crag, having survived the climbing fine), and when I went to Sheff to change the dressing, they said that was unusually high and put me down to 650mg a day.

Having said that I got the wound treated ASAP and didn't have infection spreading like festering rot throughout my limbs...

I got put on a similar dose when I got bitten by a spider in SA and the wound turned septic / got horribly infected / turned into a disgusting holein my elbow (whatever the medical term is). I think for nasty external infections a strong dose is needed.

So, eh, is my elbow pretty bad then? Or are French doctors just a little trigger-happy when it comes to drugs?

They did leave the cannula in my arm for about 3 hours after taking blood samples I was starting to think they might put me on IV antibiotics for a while.

Mind you, the fever and nightmares on Mnday night were a bit mental.

Mind you, the fever and nightmares on Monday night were a bit mental.

Surely you are answering your own question.

I had IV anti biotics for a spider bite in the states (well no-one knew what it was so spiders bite became the accepted theory amongst the gaggle of doctors who came and prodded my swollen leg from time to time. Honestly, it must have been a slow day and - hey lets go and look at the Brit with the gammy leg..) I digress. The AB's were  8) leg problems were gone in 12 hours.....

you can take 2g every 4 hours by infusion according to the B.N.F.mind this is if you've got listerial menigitis rather than a fucked elbow.

Part I...word to the wise kids, be careful on them works Xmas dos - our was Weds night just gone, and in the course of getting home I hopped over a low wall (the phrase look before etc makes more sense now), only to find it was a fair bit further down the other side. Once I'd gone for it.

Have quite badly knackered my ankle and am limping like a combination of Herr Flick and Bishop Magic Don. Hope it's just a sprain...NNFN!!!

Part II - had to go up to Edinburgh today for the final stage of my professional qualification - basically a 40 min oral Q+A about Business Analysis (I know, riveting...) with a couple of the exam board fellas.

Sadly, as we kicked off it became clear that the organisers appeared to have omitted to send me the exam syllabus for the thing, so what I thought would be a chat about projects I'd done, how I'd applied the techniques I'd learned in the modules etc was actually an in-depth interrogation on the ins and outs of management accounting ...which I've not even thought about since the course I did back in 2006.

So, 6 hours of travel, 2 hours wasted hobbling round a frozen Edinburgh all just to have my pants taken down by two guys who've probably not led a workkshop or delivered a line of code in the last 5 years. NNFN!!

On the plus side, I now have a beer in my hand and cheese on toast (only toasted one side of course - don't want to make it 3 NNFN in one day) on the go...

Bummer Ali. Not like you will be missing great winter climbing or ski touring conditions or anything.

Plus isn't Murdoch a shitty pile of rust?

It sure is! Cheers.

Chris, I'd be in work if I was home anyway, so not too bothered about that. Just want to get back for Chrimbo. Things hould have settled back down nicely by the 27th and I'll be hitting the mountains with a veangance!

On the plus side, the latest weather forecast is giving +3c for Norwich tomorrow, so it might happen.  :-\

P.S. Chris, dont'cha know they're all rusty piles of shit? (to be honest, this one's not too bad, built in the 90's, so there are sitll some bits of it that don't fall to bits when you hit them with a hammer!

So you've managed to get out bouldering?
You've crushed all but one move on hard stuff?
And you're moaning.

I spend 2 hours a night warming Sir Nik's pyjamas before an open fire, before the retires after a rigorous training session on his WoB.
After that he allows me to pop home before a hard day carving wooden holds, and then warming pyjamas.

It's hard work, but ultimately satisfying.
