Boreal Blades

Anyone got pair? They look prety tasty.

How do they compare to the crux? They have no lining so are they as sensitive as falcons?

Fuck the blade! Iv'e been waiting for the Venom replacement all winter. The speedster. Its here :-
http://www.lasportiva.com/catalogue/catalogo.php?cat=10&cod3=860&Language=EN#
Check the 3D rotation. Looks more downturned than the Venom but the heel/upper toe doesn't look so clever. We shall see.

I shall have all the sensitivity 3mm rubber allows as I cruise through the toe down steep ground, whilst you laugh your way to victory with some intelligent use of heel and toe hook action.

According to the website, they are canvas lined (?)

I like the fit of Boreal velcro's, though, as I have a wide/square forefoot

Why not start a "smack me on the bum with some La Sportivas" guys?

In reply to Tobym I noticed this too after looking into them closely. I read an american review that said they were a velcro version of the falcon which was wrong.

Just looked at those Sportiva again Zod. The heel is looking better and better(check how infinitessimal the overlapping thickness is), and the toe rubber coverage may well be just as good(though different) as the Venom. This, sir, is a fine shoe.

I love the way the rubber stretches right down over the toe, presumably joining the sole, presumably producing x% of extra power through the big toe. They look like they've been sent from the future.

The question has already been asked. Along with, when can I get hold of them? I am awaiting the response from deep thought.

some of you gentlemen may remember this previous model from la sportiva: the mantra.

i saw the new ones at the feet of michele caminati latley, he helped develop them. they are supposed to be stiffer than the mantra, but softer than anything alse, probably. michele thought very good for smearing, but absolutely not for anything edgy. the front is quite rounded, so very likely to be less precise and probably would require steel feet to stand on edges.
i like them at first sight and having enjoyed alot my mantras in the past i will prolly try them.

Nice Nibs. How much in Dinarii?

They are not on Lyons import list apparently. So it is currently every man/woman for themselves. The old Matras above had 2.5mm rubber and are splendido. The mantra S(also brill) had 3.5mm. This (3mm) sits nicely in the middle. A great board shoe by the looks. I believe they will set of my Moon jeans famously.

Is that the Mantra or the Speedster? And anyone have any info on the possibility of getting these while in font?

this sort of thread ruins the search function btw

hey roberto,
yes they will prolly be an excellent board shoe. stylish as well, and that's always a plus.
i don't know how much they will cost, i still have to see them in the shops here in town. despite living in a big town, climbing shops here are not the best, they don't want to risk anything, so prolly a hyper-specific shoe won't encounter their favours. (for instance, it's very difficult to find the dragons here and they're not that strange a shoe...)
i will let you know as i find out.
bear in mind you all: in the north of italy there's la sportiva manifactury, where you can buy shoes with small difects for half the price (ex. solution for 70 euros). so if anyone plans a climbing visit here it's worth the wait. if you can't find the cheap ones you can buy them at full price, but italian price.
also: arco (trento) is probably the best place in italy to buy climbing stuff.

I had to put in a specific order through the foundry shop to get my first pair of dragons. At the time they didn't think they'd be that popular.

I did a quick google on the Blades to find out what they looked like. And this thread came top of the list. Boreal's marketing dept might like to think about that.

Bungle.

From a shop, today.

"I've been in touch with Lyon. Apparently they don't know the prices
yet because the Speedster is a new shoe and not due for release until
March. Also because it's new, they can't find out availability until
all the advance orders have been fulfilled. All of which means we can
order it for you, but we don't know how much it will cost and we
won't find out until March just how long we have to wait for it to
arrive."

I made my order...3 pairs of blades, yeah.
