intersection syndrome - rehabilitation
January 05, 2009, 11:28:11 am
Well I completely overdid it climbing a week ago and have ended up with intersection syndrome in my right wrist. Soreness above the wrist and squeaky tendons. Has anybody got any advice on how to best rehabilitate this? Should I try icing or massaging? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Travs, rest and ice is the first port of call for anything acute. Ibuprofen won't go a miss - i presume the squakiness is from the tendons moving in their sheaths. Once this squeakiness (hopefully only 2-3 days) has improved, gentle movements and gradual loading, using symptoms as your guide. Don't just go on symptoms at the time - increase intensity gradually and systematically, and monitor response the next day too. If all well, step it up a bit.
See you
