The CWIF is back
January 02, 2009, 06:33:07 pm
Details of the Climbing Works International Festival are starting to appear at http://www.climbingworks.com/events/CWIF09/

More stuff to get added as well as sorting out the formatting (sorry in a rush today and was just copying and pasting from a multitude of documents).

Maybe we will give a prize for the best cwif at the CWIF - although you would have to go some to beat this one

Didn't you click the link!!!!

Its free to watch.

Whatever films or slideshows we have are free.

The BBQ is free.

Its even sort of free to compete - just pay the normal wall entry fee. So if you are a full member its free.

Anyway don't just come and watch. Have a go, the qualifier is a 30 problem circuit from fairly easy to nails. And its free*

More info http://www.climbingworks.com/blog/2009/02/15/

Get your teams together now - its going to be a good do I reckon. Perahps a UKB team is in the offing. I know The Foundry have recruited the UKB stunthorse for their team, but there are probably enough strong folks on here who could be persuaded to have a go - there will be beer, you know!

What about a vetrans category i.e. everyone over 40? (age not BMI) I'd be prepared to participate in team fat and forty.

Well you could be in Team Aged 40+ and in Team BMI 40+ I reckon  ;)

What could we give as a Vet's prize. A zimmer frame maybe, a nice cardigan perhaps?

Anyway good idea. We will discuss it tomorrow. But remember teams must be mixed.

But seriously folks. Yes we will do a Vet's category. Rules are everyone 40+, mixed Team. We will think of an appropriate prize for the highest scoring team.

The slipper actually belongs to the Old Woman of nursery rhyme fame and as the pipe is to scale. Take more than a tenner deal to fill that beauty  ;)

4 in a Team

I suppose you are including Sloper so he can argue the toss with the judges  :)

Subsititute Fred with Salavat and I reckon you are on a winner

I don't know if any of one guys caught the final of the CWIF last night, but if you didn't you missed out. That was one of the closest and most exciting bits of climbing I have seen in a long while. Full results on the Works website tomorrow. Jerome Meyer (multiple world cup winner and current European champion) just pipped Dave Barrans in the mens, whilst Works team ringer Maud Ansade pipped Leah Crane for the womens top spot. If Leah had only matched the finishing hold on the last problem she'd have won, but it wasn't to be! An absolutely awesome comp - cheers to everybody who came and supported us.

And 3 cheers for Joe Picalli whose valiant effort to win the fancy dress contest all went wrong after he travelled to the comp in his costume and had to perform an emergency removal of his garments before the comp even started after realising that you can only spend so long in a rubber gimp suit before you sweat yourself to death. God only knows what the police would have said if they'd pulled him over!
