Oli Grounsell has repeated megalopa  (8c+) at LPT, 4th ascent after Caff's the the other week. Nice one Oli, good to know being 9st and a student hasn't held you back.

Strong effort! I've only ever heard of Oli doing The Brute before. Big grade jump if he went 8b - 8c+?

Mina did the Oak at Malham today. Not sure how significant it is in terms of numbers but she thought it was hard!

Glad to hear that, she got close last weekend.  It was a bit of a lesson in how how to choose your battles wisely.  Brutally hot that day, I tore apart my skin and utterly demotivated myself in the midday sun (subconsciously figured I was going to fail anyway, may as well get it over with), she just chilled and had the self-restraint to wait for the shade.   I was just an idiot marking time, she was a "pro".

I know. I belayed her. But it was already repeated by Lucinda a couple of years ago which I thought was an a great achievement. The Oak's burly style didnt suit Mina and she was getting quite frustrated but in the end pathed it first redpoint of the day. Instead of a handshake I got a redpoint cuddle  She's now on Bat Route.

In other news Oli Grounsell has repeated Megalopa 8c+ at LPT. I didnt realise he had put time in on Liquid Ambar last year. More on his blog here http://oligrounsell.me/2015/04/22/megalopa/

Especially when they rhyme, and rhyme with your first name too. (Don't spoil it by telling me you don't pronounce it like that.)

Barbara Zangerl did a one-day ascent of Tom et je ris in Verdon yesterday. We saw the redpoint ascent from the viewpoint across the canyon. She did the route in full sun since it took her and her partner 2 hours to find the rappel (despite the fact that her partner did the route a while ago. At least we found the raps faster....)

A double barrelled surname would have led to 1hr finding the rap anchors and a beta flash, surely. If a beta flash is something that actually exists of course.
