at the risk of being boring, I still think it's worth reporting that Michele did Renegade Master a few days ago (no rope, ground up), and Gaia yesterday (head point).

As did Jon Partridge on the same day. Same style. Renegade that is... not Gaia. Obviously.

I heard that Moffat's original Renegade Master is no longer repeated, and people climb it more easily by missing out the crux? Why is this?

Nedlog is seen by dobbin and Dr Pinch surmounting the prow of the crag on vertical sloping death pinches.
Dr Pinch : "Whoa Nedlog - good effort! thats amazing! brilliant work!"
Dobbin : "Yeah, whatever - come and spot me now"
Nedlog - shuffles over, brushes holds and is generally supportive
Dobbin - does problem, Ebola (7c), everyone very pleased, start packing up - "so, how hard is that thing you just did then"
Nedlog - "dunno. might be 8b"
Dobbin - "but what does it get given?"
Nedlog - "8b+"
< stunned silence >
Dobbin - "it looked well easy"
At this point Spike the dog did a poo so we stopped talking about it and went back to looking for mushrooms.

Jon Partridge made the 4th ascent of Chimaera at High Rocks on Sunday. Considered the hardest route in the south east of England and graded English 7A. Video coming soon apparently.

Hot news from Devon...

North Devon micro grom Pete Dawson, on a raid to the South of the county yesterday, repeated the Cider Soak 8a at Ansteys Cove!

I thought his ascent of Empire of the Sun (7b) was fairly significant given his sub 5ft stature but it would appear that 7b is now a warm up for the lad..

Oh yeah! Forgot to add that Pete is 12 years old. :o

The question may have been asked before but I think this could be the youngest ascent of an 8a in the UK by someone from the UK??

Randy was just 13 when he did Raindogs almost exactly a month after his 13th birthday though he had got close whilst he was still 12.

Pete must be the youngest if he is still 12, a great effort Well Done.

I give it 15 mins before someone says "how can it be an on-sight when he's already climbed From a Distance"

(good effort by the way - looks like a brilliant route)

nobodys even commented when i saw it this morning, i think there's some kind of funny thing over there with james. I say top marks, cracking route, cracking style. still i think you'll be right, not long and it'll descend into bitching, but thats what its always like mind.  :wank:

Good effort Mr Pearson

Not the usual repeats mentioned in here (and it may actually be a new route, as full details aren't yet available), but Ueli Steck soloed Shisha Pangma (8027m) in 10 1/2 hours (setting off from 5800m)  :o
