I got a new Acer Aspire recently and today I was watching Free Hueco when the screen went dark- not off, but the back-light has stopped working making it very very hard to see the screen. Also the touchpad mouse has stopped working. This leads me to believe it's the motherboard. Anyone think any different?

Not necessarily. Usually something will happen, but it might be setup not to do anything.

But it's not set up to do nothing, it goes on standby when the screen is put down...
