training i can do while bicep heals
November 24, 2008, 07:55:04 pm
I've pulled some muscle in my right bicep, almost 3 weeks a go, carrying my bike with panniers up the stairs when cold. went climbing on it (out of frustration) which probably interrupted the healing process. seen a GP, and they're not concerned, just reckoned 4-6 weeks for recovery...

just wondering what i can do for bouldering's sake while it heals. I'm not finding sits, presses, powerball a problem and went to a ashthanga yoga class which seemed was do-able. running with arm weights seems ok-ish.

Tried an assisted one-(left)arm pull-up, using a belt held by my right hand... and (deservingly) fucked it again!  :goodidea:

I'm doing dead-hangs with straight arms, but I hear that this can ruin elbows. this true?

any tips from y'all? i hear working on the 'core body' is helpful, but not sure where to start. anything good for a quick recovery and rehab?...very frustrating.

Pistols are good for leg strength, but also balance and core.

If you can find somewhere set up a slackline and play on that (might be too cold outside though!).

Yep, great fun, excellent for balance and core strength.  Not great at it myself, but do enjoy playing around, loooong-way from being able to do any "tricks" myself.

Have you tried more slab type bouldering? Or one handed stuff which will make you use your feet better?

...you could try the world's most popular 1 handed activity  :wank:. Not sure it'll help your climbing, but it'll pass the time...
