God it's slow in here today......which isn't helping my boredom levels.

Here I am, running XSL benchmarks on a pc that keeps crashing every hour. New one comes tomorrow though - with a CD burner, heh heh!!!

Massive broadband + CD burner = sore temptation to download everything I possiby can from everywhere.....

Ain't it fun! I'll have admin rights but not sure if the proxy servers will allow me to install winmx - in fact, if I try I'll probably have the security peeps dragging me down to security for a good kicking. Bit tight on security at this place

Still, I could still be a mainframe programmer starting at a dumb terminal with no web-access, so it could be a lot worse.

mmmmm... an afternoon of xsl here we come...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

If you wanna be a geek then help me out with this one - my dad sent me this question, and knowing him its something to do with programming languages, or something like binary or hex or something like that:

Fill in the missing number:

10  11  12  13  14  15  16  17  20  22  24  31  100  ...  10000

Its probably really obvious but i can't see it yet.....

?? :?:  :?:  :?: ?? :uhoh:

Well..... I cheated but the answer is: 121

I just used google, but it's basically like this:

start on 10 (base 16/hex)
which is 11 is base 15
12 (base 14)
13 (base 13)
etc etc
121 (base 3)
1000 (base 2 / binary)

Oh dear, I'm really digging a hole now, aren't I ?

Nice one geeza! I tried using google but got sweet FA.

I suppose its quite easy really but i never would have thought of it. I'm pretty old fashioned really, cos i generally count in base 10.

Like the old saying goes, theres only 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Now that's an impressively geeky joke - congratulations sir, you're well on the way to geekdom!
