Trouble Brewing?

http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=33650

This, however, is a telling statement, and is one that had slipped past me:

Quote
Following the Government’s abolition of Standards for England in 2012 and changes to the Code of Conduct regime the options available to the Council when a breach of the Code of Conduct is found have been limited.   There is no longer the ability to suspend Councillors.    The Council has never been able to disqualify Councillors in response to Code of Conduct complaints.

Forward thinking from Yahoo (who?):

As someone who now works from home generally 4 out of 5 days a week ( :2thumbsup: ) I completely agree with the last statement.

But he says it is "equally ridiculous" to feel you have to be at the office every day. He recommends a bit of both.

"A large corporation saying you can't work at home, especially an IT based company, seems counter-productive. You have to treat people as grown-ups."

Especially handy if you can build a nursery in your office once you get there.

Branson disagrees with her.

Ergo, I am on her side.

How much is Twitter really worth?

'Cause economists are brilliant are forecasting beyond the available data!

Point being this was someone using the available data and sensible assumptions rather than the usual bullshit. Hence "interesting".

I might need to look at that again. To see if I can both read it and understand it at the same time.

there was a bit of a follow up to this on Radio 4 earlier

I'm looking forward to see how it pans out (and hope that Sloper gets involved)

European Union Votes could be held in secret

So far one of my MEPs has responded that they will be voting against this.

Ditto.

So far, one of my MEPs has responded to my email from Friday saying they are opposing this -

Huhne and Pryce sent to prison:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/chris-huhne-and-vicky-pryce-both-jailed-for-eight-months-for-perverting-course-of-justice-in-speeding-points-scam-as-couple-are-reunited-for-the-final-act-of-their-tragic-family-drama-8529546.html

And Marina Hyde on how it could all have been avoided (really good as ever).........

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/mar/08/vicky-pryce-chris-huhne-never-talk

Have only read a bit of the email exchange between Pryce and the Sunday Times editor but it's pretty shocking. Huhne is obviously a knob and Pryce let anger and retribution make her behave like a teenager with no thought of the consequences of her actions. They must both feel fucking stupid now.
