Does anyone else get this image in their head every time the government do another U-Turn?

One or policy reversals in a term shows you're not afraid to say "yup, we got it wrong". However, it starts to look a bit embarrassing when it happens twice a month....

Oh, that one was easy for Osborne and Lansley.

Ageing population, obesity and new drugs? Check!
£20bn cut to budget by 2015? Check!
GPs with little experience of commissioning? Check!
and finally...
GPs' budgets set by Treasury? Check!!

Failure is guaranteed, and easily achieved. Who's going to audit that one? Jeremy Hunt?!!

The commissioning board are short a few staff at the mo too!

Good piece on commissioning from yesterday http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/oct/02/why-i-quit-nhs-commissioning-champion?INTCMP=SRCH

I remember Ben Goldacre tweeting that he thought the commissioning boards were being set up to fail to allow private companies to manage that part of the process too...

Wow.. It's not often I'm taken by a 15 min video of a politicians monologue, but this is quite something.... Australian pm Julia Guilard puts the opposition leader in his squirming place over sexism...

apart from the multiple drinks trial, we also need to try out glasses that are wider at the base than they are at the top - if the hypothesis is correct, then the way that these will disrupt the subjects ability to judge where the half full point is will cause even slower drinking

my mind experiment where the diameter of the top of the glass tends towards zero seems to agree with the hypothesis.... at diameters below 1mm anyway

Fucking hell they're all at it! Welcome to paedogeddon.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/bbc/9603959/John-Peel-got-15-year-old-pregnant-after-meeting-at-Black-Sabbath-concert-claims-woman.html

I dread to think what's going to be uncovered next about some dead celeb in the music industry. George Formby raping badgers or something.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8930168/Allowing-women-drivers-in-Saudi-Arabia-will-be-end-of-virginity.html

This gem really caught my eye, "It warned that allowing women to drive would "provoke a surge in prostitution, pr0nography, homosexuality and divorce".

Within 10 years of the ban being lifted, it claimed, there would be "no more virgins" in the Islamic kingdom."

Bring it on.
