Anyone got any ideas as to why that might be?

If you think that's bad, you should read the repellent shite their  contributors submit as copy.

Hidden card charges are to be banned for Rail, Ferry and Air Tickets

Fuck off you thieving cunts  :tease: :2thumbsup:

Sadly they can still charge the charges, just have to be more upfront about it. Though there are plans in the offing to make ALL debit card transactions free for customers.... Ryan-tosspots-air will defy this until the last possible moment of course...

I think that's covered too (airlines were a worst example cited..)

Annoying thing is that using a credit card is supposed to be better from a security point of view and gives you more cover against firms going bust and so on and yet that will be the last type of transaction that they stop charging top whack for (using the "admin costs" excuse of course).

Like tomtom says, this is a step in the right direction but at present it only prevents companies from "hiding" the charges. They can still charge what they like.

#interviewsbyhari is comedy gold.

I quite like this one

It's all very funny but it's also a bit rich when cunts like Toby Young and Guido Prick are wading in banging on about ethics and journalistic standards! People in glass houses etc. Scumbags.

Hari has been a victim of his own pomposity rather than anything else. So desperate to show himself as some sort of confidant to the great and good he's built his part rather than actually falsifying anything important (or really plagiarising in the real sense of the word). I'm sure he's been fucking mortified by the Twitter stuff whatever he said in his apology. His ego will have taken a pummelling.

Fact is nobody has ever complained about the content of the "interviews" he has written about them. Yes what he's done is wrong but it hasn't given anybody an incorrect perspective of the views of the person in question so I'm not really bothered.

There's certainly much worse stuff out there masquerading as journalism.

Unfortunately this is not true.....

He specifically and deliberately misrepresented Antonio Negri by selecting responses given in a different context, not just a different interview...

Do you mean this?

http://deterritorialsupportgroup.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/hari-karihackery/

Not entirely convinced that the conclusions they've drawn...

Quote
To take Negri’s answers to entirely different questions, and recontextualise them around Hari’s agenda, which involves the sustenance of the very systems of power that falsely accused and imprisoned Negri for decades of his life as a political prisoner in Italy, seems especially disingenuous.

... are correct and it's not simple ego massaging as I said.

Either way, as I also said, it's wrong but there's a lot of much worse stuff about mostly written by those who are the keenest to put the boot in in this case.

I'm inclined to agree with this comment on Knob Face Young's piece in the Torygraph (and yes, the irony of title, I know):

Johann Hari is a bit of a paradox, a dichotomy, an oxymoron, or any of several other words that don't quite fit.

On the one hand, in the face of death threats he writes brave articles criticising Islamofascism like http://www.johannhari.com/2011... and in the next article he'll appear to defend the left in enabling this kind of thing.

I can't quite work out whether he's deeply principled or a complete media whore. Lately, I'm tending towards the latter, but then again he always politely answers points on twitter. It's not like he completely fabricates stuff  to deliberately mislead, like, say, James Delingpole, but it's not the right thing to do either. I'm undecided on this one.

Utter scum:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jul/04/milly-dowler-voicemail-hacked-news-of-world

I wonder if this might be the tipping point against the tabloid behaviour by the public. Lets face it, most of us dont give a ferk if Sienna Millers phone gets hacked.. but what the NOTW did here was pretty sick by anyones standards.. as well as giving the family false hope and potentially interfering with an investigation...

I hope the paper and all working there at the time get duly punished...

However, a rather amusing headline from the Currant Bun..

Though my fave headline was this following Cale Thistles 1:0 shock cup win over the Mighty Celtic... (not as high profile as Cashley..)
