Its an urban myth, but Newcastle Poly was very nearly renamed the Central University for Newcastle upon Tyne.. (apparently it got as far as designing the logo before someone realised)

and, on the unfortunate names, wasnt there a sketch on 'Not the nine o clock news' featuring Arthur Penis, the unluckiest man in the world...

poor embedding skills.

Thats what I get for typing my BBcode instead of using the handy buttons that get it right for you.

quite a moving story though.

Moving yes, but also avoidable.  Fighting/war solves little but creates unnecessary pain and suffering.

:devangel:

Just to balance that heartfelt sentiment out though the individual chose to enlist in the army.

I can see the inscription on his headstone already:

Blest be the man that spares these stones,
And curst be he that moves my boners

A literary mastermind in the making.

Minister doesn't resign shock

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/sep/22/lady-scotland-illegal-immigrant-brown

Note if this was any other minister (perhaps with the exception of Jack Straw) I wouldn't be calling for their head but the is the Govt's chief legal officer and was responsible for enacting the law she has broken.
