Thanks for exposing this. I will be keeping my children safe from now on. If that means keeping them under lock and key in my cellar, so be it.

Government ministers in shocking mis-interpretation of EU law Bunch of fucking  :wank: the lot of them.

EDIT : Oh, and the proposals are logically inconsistent, given that they propose to wipe DNA from youngsters when they turn eighteen but are proposing to retain it for six to 12 years in case of re-offending.  What so <18 year olds aren't going to reoffend when they are >18.  Fucking twats!!!

CUNTS!!!!

So a private company is given £14m of public money to improve a public service and then stops the public from using it. As pointed out in one of the links, if they can afford a "human barrier" (backed up by police, nice touch) then why the fuck can they not just have a bloke checking tickets on the entrance to each walkway to the platforms? There are so many things wrong with this.

Known about this for some time.  Its a fucking travesty.  Understandably Urban Splash are none too pleased either, being that its a main access point to the city from Park Hill.  Councillors are opposed, and its been bought up in parliament already.

There's a web-site at http://www.rasc-sheffield.com/ campaigning against the closure.

I have a vague recollection that if somewhere has been treated as a public right-of-way for some time and attempts are made to change access then the fact that its been used and treated as a public right-of-way over-rides the desired change and it has to remain so.

it's not news, but i do like the sport quotes of the week on the beeb, esp the ones the punters send in.

"Stephen threw everything at me in the first session, including the kitchen sink. The problem for Stephen was I picked it up and threw it back."
Shaun Murphy after beating Stephen Hendry in the quarter-final in Sheffield.

On a similar theme, but unlikely to be picked up by the BBC, yesterday the sports reporter from Northwest Tonight gushed 'Ronaldo proved what a weapon he is,' as they showed his free kick sailing past Manuel Almunia.

Works better if you replace weapon with tool..

Anyone on here a fan of The Onion.... 'fake news' from the US. Good satirical articles. A few examples:

Read it occasionally, prefer the The Daily Mash.

The idea behind this thread though is for ridiculous news stories that are true.

Bulletproof Turbans

I don't care if this un-PC, but its their fucking choice to follow a religion which says they can't cut their hair and have to wrap it up in a turban.  The "rules" say that to pack a firearm in the police you have to wear a bullet-proof helmet.  Therefore make a choice, your religion or your job.

In a similar vein, I wouldn't even entertain the idea of trying to be a model and claiming "equal rights" just 'cause I ain't pretty enough.

It's such crap. Why should anyone get special dispensation from abiding by THE LAW just because they choose to say they believe in one version or another of the flying teapot? Fucking bullshit.
