Has anyone been to Bury Climbing Centre yet?

Thinking of going down later, just wondering  what it's like?

I don't know, why don't you tell us?  :P

It would help if they PUT SOME PICTURES UP.

I've not been but I'm not optimistic:
From their FB page:

Quote
the most perfect bouldering space I've ever seen!

As bouldering spaces go that looks about the worst - low ceiling height, lots of wall space lost to doors/exits, pillars in the middle of the room, and it's not a particularly big floor space to start with.
From the thread on the other channel the attitude of the owner was a bit 'interesting' with his spat with Squawk.
It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Hmm looks a bit like me, short, fat and slightly unfit (for purpose).

When you lose 30 cm for matting and 2m drop out zones I don't think there's going to be much space for any actual climbing and even less for paying punters.  If they want to make a few quid get the hyrdoponics set up.

Now given the proximity of other facilities and the above I'd say this either won't get any funding or will be closed within 6 months.

I saw that picture a few months ago when I heard of it! Thought the same...

I did manage to get down for a couple of hours though. It looked pretty good.

The 'before' picture is pretty misleading. It's not massive, but it didn't feel small! The pillars don't seem to have been a problem - they've incorporated walls round them.

To be honest I've not been to many others, just Rochdale and the two in Manchester. So I can't really compare. But there were a load of people from Bury Mountaneering Club,  and they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I snapped a couple of photos on my phone - is there any way I can upload them?

Oh fxxk I know I'll get grief for not knowing how to show a quote, but judging by the picture of the place before building, they daren't put any more pics up.

Judging by this thread and the one on the borg it appears (shock horror) that Graeme may have something to do with Bury Climbing Wall. From comments made by people who've been so far it doesn't sound brilliant, which it kind of should at least try to be given the local competition. What it might be is an ideal place for beginners but the photos on bury mountaineering club website make it look a bit pony.

Sorry Graeme.

I thought that you said you'd never been to Rochdale on the other channel perhaps it might be better to post under your own name and admit that you have some involvement in Bury CC.
