Hi everyone, spent 2 hours today at curbar looking for this boulder. Does anyone have what3words / coordinates / a better description than the new peaks guidebook, or can tell me which boulder it is in the topo map?

Here's what we did:

- We walked from trackside into the forest. There was only one fork in the road and we went right (up towards the edge).
- The path took us right next to mono or nono. We then put pads down and searched up and down the path, up the hill towards the crag and down the hill. We found The beagus as landed up the hill.
- We then followed the path to the top of the crag, and tried to find the path the book mentions between the area "curbar woods" and Cioch boulders. We could not find a path that was "prominent".
- We followed something that lead to Petit Jesu but we couldn't see an easy way further down

It can't be so overgrown that it can't be gotten to cause apparently it's been done recently... any help is appreciated

I think it's about here. Much easier to find the right path from the top, and the bloc is on the path so you can't miss it if you're on the right path.

If you walked in along the bottom did you have to climb over a fallen tree just as the main path starts to go back uphill a bit? About halfway along the whole edge? If so that is the path ultimate gritstone is on. And the fork the book is mentioning is just before that. If you just stay on that path (which is a pretty decent size and basically the main path) it goes right past ultimate gritstone. We walked past it on Thursday. It’s not overgrown at all. It should be really obvious. I suspect you must have accidentally taken a small side path up before you reached it.

Hope that makes sense.

If its any consolation, I did exactly this the first time I tried to find it. We wandered around for about an hour in heavy snow before giving up and going back to the Gorilla Warfare region! As others say, it's much easier if you come from above. If you go to the Trench area that's a nice stop along the way. I suspect it will also be easier in a month or two when the bracken is properly down.

similar to everyone else, I found it from the top. The pin Remus dropped (from UKC I believe) is pretty accurate I think.

as a bonus might I recommend this too https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/curbar_edge-21/buenos_aires-679811 :doubt:

Hey, nice to meet you after your failed attempt to find UGE. We were both trying Finger Distance. Did you get it done in the end?

Thanks for the advice everyone. Pretty sure we walked right past it...

We didn't get finger distance in the end, I landed slightly funny and decided it wasn't worth it, and my friend called it as well. Nice to meet you too, strong effort on it!
